I am calling on the @HouseGOP @SpeakerMcCarthy and @SenateGOP plus the @GOPGovs to IMMEDIATELY get to work safeguarding private and homeschooled families from govt intrusion via #SchoolChoice 1/
2/Like any other parental rights advocate, I want parents to choose how their kids are educated, but if a state is going to keep taking tax $ for education from them, and then "give" some back to pay for education,
3/I don't want the state or federal govt using that "grant" or voucher as an excuse to tell private schools, and homeschooling parents what they must teach, and/or how they must teach it. That's precisely what parents are trying to escape!
4/Right now, elite private, even episcopal and many catholic schools, and an alarming number of Jewish day schools are MORE WOKE than public (hard to imagine, but true), and as a taxpayer and parent, I do NOT want to keep funding child abuse (and our demise as a nation)
5/nor do I want to withhold funds from desperate parents because they are trying to escape failing schools, or because they've realized that "schooling" in America with govt direction, is a conflict of interest and inherently dangerous.
6/SO, my suggestion is you immediately craft or ask for legislation that prohibits the Dept of Ed at federal and state levels (that's you governors and state legislatures) from imposing conditions on the use of ed$ in terms of worldview and content.
7/IF the purpose of forcibly taking the money to ensure all American kids are "educated," all the govt should care about is they are able to read and compute mathematically at the elementary level. Our schools aren't even doing THAT, but they are making sure our kids question
8/and even hate reality, and the United States of America. They're also data-mining our kids for private and govt entities, including (especially) the UN and other foreign actors. Bad enough tax money is paying for this abuse of power,
9/it should not follow parents home, via private education choices. You want to make sure a school deserves to keep using our money? Make it contingent on whether the kids can read and do math proficiently by the end of third grade. That's it. If they can't, nothing else matters.
10/AND, the rest of whether they can or can't should NOT--I repeat, NOT--be designed or administered by anyone with ANY ties to public or private entities with an agenda. They should be designed as locally as possible. Decentralize these tests, and make the rubrics public.
11/Everyone, students included, should know precisely what the metrics are for proficiency, and should be able to raise the red flag if standards start to fall. Speaking of which, we need laws denying funds to those who lower standards in the name of "racial equity."
12/This is a civil rights violation, and one that is cleverly hidden by claims it's the opposite. No child should be presumed more or less capable because of their race. A standard is a standard, and as much as I detest all of this--from govt funded education to govt standards,
13/if you're going to insist on keeping the dept of Ed and compulsory schooling a thing, please don't let #SchoolChoice become a way to force LOWER standards on all via the funding trap. Public education is already an oxymoron, please don't destroy the only escape we have.
14/Already we have seen Title 9 be used to justify forcing private schools to adopt politically-motivated school policies. We have seen courts rule in favor of this continuing, and states using ESA models for school choice are signaling homeschoolers who take funds will face regs
15/Like I said, I get why there would be strings--it's taxpayer funds--I just want you to do what you can to prevent those strings from tying to political pet causes and "pedagogies." The point of all this govt involvement (allegedly) was 100% literacy right?
16/Well let's get back there. Public dollars should ONLY pay for literacy and numeracy and a thorough reading and understanding of the constitution of the United States. Beyond that? It should not be for the govt to say.
17/and if that makes you queasy, because you personally think school should do more, then maybe get on board with a separation of school and state because THAT is where the most liberty lives. Keep trying to impose a worldview or value set, and I can promise you,
18/the left will too, and they're better at it than you, always have been. Time to admit they own compulsory education, and if you refuse to end it, then FFS at least protect parents and kids from its myriad abuses! Hurry please! /END

I hate that the choice seems to be schools run with rigid discipline, in order to preserve order, because no one can learn in chaos (#fact) OR mollycoddling and enabling bad behavior as children growing up in chaos rebel against arbitrary hierarchies and timelines. 1/
2/Yes of course the former is preferable to the latter, and a percentage of students will thrive in such an environment, and one can maintain discipline and order without eliminating caring, compassion and even excellence in teaching. But...
3/those who ask "what about the percentage who can't thrive there?" have a point. That percentage grows every year irrespective of what's taught in schools. John Taylor Gatto railed less about ideology than he did about structure and hierarchy, timeline and incentives...

There is no grief like mourning someone who is still alive, but so changed it's as though they murdered the loved one they were, and you can't forgive them, while at the same time you're wishing and hoping they wake up and come back, because theoretically, they could.1/
2/If you're a parent dealing with this kind of loss of a child, you are not alone, and that's the tragedy of it: there are FAR too many parents dealing with this for whom the new year stretches out ahead not with the promise of new beginning, but more days of forced distraction.
3/People tell you to forgive, let go, move on, find comfort in memories, but memories offer no comfort. They're reminders of the little girl or boy who doesn't exist anymore, because the person occupying their body killed them, mercilessly, and with malice, and worst of all

This is gonna sound strange, but good. I'm serious. There's increasingly little difference between the schools except their location, and price. 1/

2/I personally think college for MOST is a colossal waste of time and money (yes, for my own child who's there included, but o couldn't talk her out of it, and i am proud of her for doing her best and paying her own way, and not choosing by name at least. Time will tell, but
3/I genuinely believe making four-year college the automatic "next-step" for America's kids is asinine, so I am actually glad businesses are starting this trend of not wanting the name of the school, and their reasoning isn't that irrational!

Dear English Teachers (sorry, "Literacy" teachers): PUHLEEZE stop telling your HS students to fill their college essays with short, clipped, repetitive sentences (I've now had FIVE students tell me their teachers TOLD THEM to do this). This is called TAUTOLOGY. Stop it.1/
2/While you're at it, for the love of all that is coherent and legible (desirable elements in ESSAYS), STOP encouraging run-on sentences punctuated with semi-colons. The semi-colon serves a SPECIFIC purpose, it is not just another kind of period. Ending a sentence won't kill you.
3/Also, WTF with all the adverbs and passive voice? If I have one more student tell me their "teacher" told them this makes their writing more "compelling" or "personal," I'm going to puke. It does neither. Adverbs should be used SPARINGLY.

Hate to break it to y'all, but you can't teach people to feel, you can only condition them to react to things in specific ways, which can LOOK like you've taught them to feel the "right" feelings, but it's not. It's more like conditioning a dog to salivate when it hears a bell.1/
2/To feel the right feelings one must first have the right facts. Ex: I ask where you're from, and you assume I'm making a comment about your race or accent, and feel offended, when I've asked Bc I know people w/the same last name from x location, you've reacted to wrong info.
3/EQ makes the initial reaction or "impact" what matters, not what was intended. What's worse, it teaches that people who do react or feel more dramatically and deeply have higher EQ and are "empathetic" when they may just be more reactive and impulsive.

EQ is pseudoscience. How do I know? Let's go through it using this list 1/
thoughtco.com/what-is-a-pseu…
2/"Pseudoscience often focuses on furthering some type of ideological agenda."
Check! EQ transparently furthers the social justice agenda, particularly in our institutions, by setting a NEW standard for evaluating human beings using subjective rather than objective metrics.
3/Using subjective metrics in turn opens the door to discriminating against political or ideological apostates by deeming them less "qualified." EQ is perfect for this, People who are inclined towards individualism rather than collectivism can be deemed low-EQ, and passed over.
