Being a representative for the @MidwivesRCM Student Midwife Forum has been a fantastic experience! As a #stmw, being a member of the @RCM_SMF has enabled me to work on local & national projects that I never even dreamed that I'd be able to be involved with, such as the #RCM 🧵1/8
Decolonising Midwifery Education project. As an individual & a group, the SMF & I have consistently advocated for stmws all over the UK, not only to influence the RCM's work, but also to influence the work of other pivotal organisations such as @nmcnews & @NHS_HealthEdEng 🧵2/8
A lot of the work the @RCMSMF does is behind the scenes, but by introducing regular webinars, hosted by the #SMF representatives on topics that are current, relevant & helpful to #stmws, I feel that we have enabled the SMF to become more visible & accessible 🧵3/8
Although the majority of my time as a rep has been online, due to the Covid-19 pandemic, I've still been able to attend some amazing training courses & events, & meet so many amazing people 🧵4/8
Introducing @FrankaCadee the President of the @world_midwives, as the guest speaker of the Zepherina Veitch Lecture at the RCM's Education and Research Conference in March 2022 was definitively a pinch me moment 🧵5/8
But actually, the thing that I've enjoyed most is hearing from, engaging with & meeting so many passionate & inspiring #studentmidwife activists! ✨You are all AMAZING!!✨ 🧵6/8
I'm proud of everything that the @RCM_SMF has achieved over the past 2 years, but what I'm most proud of is how we have challenged and developed the #SMF to become a more accessible, inclusive, open & representative forum 🧵7/8
As such, I'm really excited to see the @RCM_SMF continue to develop & grow, & I can't wait to hear about all the amazing things the #SMF has facilitated & achieved for student midwives, going forward 💛 🧵8/8
