So my favorite bookstore @cellardoor_12 has been given an eviction notice to get out by the end of February even though they're paid up. They've also been targeted and harassed by hate groups and hateful people bc of they host a Drag Queen Storytime, bc they promote BIPOC writers
bc they have integrity & speak up to censorship and bc they believe they have more of a responsibility to the community than just selling books. Cellar Door has been supportive of not just myself, but numerous authors who've come through to the only independent bookstore
in the area. This notice comes a few days after a Proud Boys sticker was slapped on their window. They are also one of the few places that still requires masks bc we're still in a pandemic and they care about ALL customers safety. Obviously, they've gotten shit about that too.
I ask that if you can, that if Cellar Door has opened it's doors to you especially, that you show support any way you can. You can: send an email to Canyon Crest Management, Inc. to Maggie Sarinana maggie@canyoncrestmgmt.com, make a call to (951) 686-1222 ext 10.
You can also buy books at cellardoorbookstore.com or in store. If you do in store you will be greeted by knowledgable and amazing booksellers who believe in what they do and whose jobs are now at risk bc of ignorance. I can't tell you how angry I am. The Inland Empire has folks
working hard against conservatism, elitism, and racism and Cellar Door is full of them. The IE also has limited access to places like Cellar Door bc of these very reasons and we cannot afford to lose them. I hope you're able to support in some way. #Bookstore#inlandempire
Correction: You can send the emails to Maggie but should be addressed to Jeff Lerch who is the new manager.
I thought I posted this earlier. Apologies.
