When one of the greatest Patron of Women's Education in India stood in support of Satidaha:
(Thread)
John Elliott Drinkwater Bethune (1801-1851) once fought in favour of restoration of the heinous malpractice of Satidaha after it was officially banned
by the government on 4 December, 1829 (Bengal Presidency). Bethune is a big name and is regarded as one of the pioneers in the field of propagation of female education and women empowerment in colonized India. Such philanthropic souls were rare in those days among the Britishers.

inclement environmental conditions like droughts, floods, etc. An ardent patronage was required to “feed” the people of new India..This led to the owner of Hind Motors Mr. B.M. Birla to tie up with renowned German carmaker “Wanderer” to import components from Germany and assemble
them in an Indian facility. Only the chassis was to be made in India. In this way, Ambassador was born which truly became the “ambassador of India”. Starting from carrying eminent social and political personalities to becoming the companion of the common Indians,
The Nababi connection to Bengal's Jagatdhatri Puja.
(THREAD)
It is preached that Maharaj Krishna Chandra Roy(1710-1783) of Nadia started Jagatdhatri Puja in Bengal. Though using the term started would be controversial because according to many sources and historical evidences
it can be acquainted that Jagatdhatri Puja started much before Krishna Chandra's reign and verses depicting the Goddess were also found. But it was Krishna Chandra who single handedly further restored this lost festival, popularized it and
presented it as more of a public celebration. There are some popular origin stories regarding this but interestingly all three of them has a Nababi linkage.
