Our asylum laws were never supposed to be the exception to the rule of border security and the rule of law, and that’s exactly what this Administration has allowed to happen and it must END.
H.R. 29 will not do anything that DHS is either not already doing or is otherwise allowed to or actually required to do under current law, but it will REQUIRE DHS to follow our laws - putting an end to reckless policies driving this crisis.

#HR29 will naturally prevent migrants who do not have a legitimate claim to asylum from taking the dangerous journey to the border because they will no longer be released to disappear into the interior.
.@SecMayorkas has released MILLIONS of ppl into the US; this creates a massive pull factor for more illegal migration and more frivolous claims.

House Republicans MUST show we are SERIOUS about ending this crisis through “detain or turn-away.”
