Alhaitham once read that there's always joy in unexpected things.
Back then he didn't pay the line any mind. While the book was quite pleasant to read, that particular line was too inapplicable in his life. He set
everything with practicality in mind, which made any result that was generated was within his expectation, in a way.
However, now that he’s almost thirty, he can proudly say that there’s one thing that actually fits the phrase for him now.
“Baba!” The little giggle takes his
attention back to the little blob of toddler who’s sitting on her baby chair. Her wide, ruby eyes are staring at him expectantly, while her arms are raised in the air at him. Her tiny little fingers are wiggling and reaching at him as he approaches her with her bowl of food.
“Babaaaaa…” She whines as her attention is now fixated on her favorite green bowl.
The action generates an affectionate scoff from him. “You’re just like your dada. So impatient.” He says as he fixes her bib first, before he puts her food on her little table.
𝘛𝘩𝘪𝘴 𝘪𝘴 𝘩𝘪𝘴 𝘰𝘯𝘦 𝘶𝘯𝘦𝘹𝘱𝘦𝘤𝘵𝘦𝘥 𝘫𝘰𝘺, 𝘸𝘢𝘵𝘤𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘩𝘪𝘴 𝘥𝘢𝘶𝘨𝘩𝘵𝘦𝘳 𝘦𝘢𝘵.
He takes a seat across from her, after he fetches her drink and puts it on the little table. It seems that she’s truly hungry, because she spares no time in lifting the spoon
and digs into her meal. Due to her young age and her untrained motoric skills, she’s quite clumsy with her baby spoon. Most of her food will fall down to the table or any other place but her mouth, but Kaveh said that it’s good to train her skills. Some misplaced food is okay,
it’s not like they can't just feed her more milk or baby biscuits later if she’s hungry again.
Kaveh has cooked her mushy rice that’s cooked in bone-marrow broth, with very soft and finely-chopped carrot, broccoli and topped with mashed salmon. They still have no idea whether
she’s picky with her food or not, but so far, she has no problem swallowing anything Kaveh has made for her.
The same case also happens now.
Her chubby cheeks wiggle a little as she spoons the warm rice into her tiny little mouth. There's an obvious tilt of smile on her face as
she tastes the food and he can’t help but be enraptured everytime. She’ll also look at him while she munches on her soft meal. There’s always spark in her eyes and she’ll giggle happily after every swallow, as if she’s amused with how intently he’s staring at her.
Sometimes, she’ll also shake her head or her body lightly, even her legs when she’s particularly joyful if she 𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘭𝘭𝘺 likes her meal or if he ends up spooning the food into her mouth properly. The action only enhances her adorableness and if anyone tell him that he’ll be
such a fool daughter’s six years ago, he’d have thought that they’re deranged.
But look at him now.
Alhaitham unconsciously smiles when her daughter lets out a very bright beam upon tasting the salmon. A chuckle escapes from him as his daughter is now digging through her meal
with more gusto. He has once tried her meal, out of curiosity after too many sessions of watching her eat, but it’s terribly bland since Kaveh doesn’t use any real seasoning on her foods due to her age. But even then, it never stops his daughter to devour her home-cooked
meals as if they are the most delicious things in the world.
An unexplainable warmth also spreads from the center of his chest, as he wipes some of the mushy rice from her nose with a tissue while she is staring at him cutely.
“Slow down, Baba will give you more if you’re still
hungry.” Alhaitham murmurs, his hand is stroking the side of her head gently.
If he used to like to tease Kaveh to relieve some of his stress, now with just a smile or a call of baba from his daughter, Alhaitham feels like he can do another coup just for her.

The call breaks her daydream, as she shifts her attention away from the endless view of land in front of her. She turns her head to the back, where the former-Karlan’s higher-up is walking towards her.
“Gnosis.” She greets back genially. “How unusual. What has brought you up here?”
“I assume you've heard the news.” He states as he stops beside her.
“Have I?” The Doctor hums thoughtfully. “I heard numerous news on the daily, unfortunately.”
“We both know which news we’re talking
about Doctor.”
The blunt answer generates a chuckle from her. “Well, does it matter?”
Gnosis scoffs but not unkindly, although there's a hint of resignation on his face. “Nothing's set in stone, Doctor. Additionally, it's still an 𝘢𝘳𝘳𝘢𝘯𝘨𝘦𝘥 engagement.” He says with an
Haikaveh but Alhaitham has never really seen Kaveh out of his perfect-self, tidy and pinned hair, nice scent w clean clothes and so on that when he sees Kaveh in an oversized t-shirt (which suspiciously like his), shorts short while his bang is pinned up so his forehead is free
to the world and softly murmuring "morning" with a sleepy face, Alhaitham knows his old love for the older male will undoubtedly be reignited again.
((and he's right, as usual))
((the problem is said object of affection is adorable as perfect-veh and homey-veh and he
almost can't stop the urge to tease Kaveh 24/7 just to see his pout and expressive face))
((he knows this is not a good way to start courting someone))
((especially when he wants to kiss Kaveh as he nags him off))
((maybe they should just skip dating and go straight to marriage))
If Alhaitham can say that he's a feeble scholar w a straight face, what's stopping him from pretending to be weak in front of his youngest daughter, so he can see her, who's an exact replica of Kaveh, (slightly) panicking while 'helping' him to get to the sofa
and then rubs his "hurting knee" gently so the pain will go away? His seven years old daughter even gets him a pillow to be put on said knee and it's not until she's on the verge of crying for his pained papa that Alhaitham stops and is "magically" healed by her care.
Of course she told Kaveh, who then nags his husband in private for teasing her
Hc that Childe is actually pretty spoiled by Pantalone and Capitano that it actually surprises the traveler when they visit Snezhnaya.
There's a luxurious carriage for Childe and when they arrive at the Palace, it's just so /coincidental/ that Capitano is at
the entrance door and the traveler watches dumbfoundedly how Childe approaches Capitano like a happy fox and instead of being /hmph/ and fearsome yadda yadda, the rumored First Harbinger actually pets Childe's head and very fondly at that.
They meet the Ninth at dinner, where the
dark-haired male comes over to Childe instead of sitting down. He just /naturally/ cradles the side of Childe's head while standing on his side and converses w him. It's also unhingedly natural and domestic how Childe stabs a piece of the high quality steak and feeds it to
