1/ The guiding principles of the original #CorsiRosenthalBox design were (1) cost-accessibility (reduce disparities in ability to breathe cleaner air) & (2) effectiveness (in range or better of more expensive commercial HEPA air cleaners). (photo courtesy of @JimRosenthal4)
2/ The original concept exceeds expectations in each area and has now been proven highly effective by many researchers w/ additive equivalent ACH that easily get many classrooms above 9-10 equivalent ACH (CR Box + ventilation) at relatively low cost.
3/ The recent NIOSH/CDC study indicates that two #CorsiRosenthalBox es in a classroom can add greater than 12 ACH to ventilation ACH - likely exceeding 15 equivalent ACH total. As some context, this exceeds ventilation design for most hospital isolation rooms. Yep. Knew that.
4/ For a classroom of 25 students integrated over 3 years (including capital cost, replacement filters & recurring energy costs of a single #CorsiRosenthalBox) the cost per student for much cleaner air is less than 1 Venti Caffe Mocha per year.
5/ As context, the avg cost to educate a child in the US is $13,000/yr. We can signficantly reduce student & teacher inhalation dose of virus-laden respiratory aerosol particles (& other aerosols) for less than 0.034% of cost of educating a child. (photo courtesy Andre Knoesen)
6/ Very low cost. Dramatic improvements in indoor air quality in classrooms. Less exposure to virus-laden aerosol particles, wildfire smoke, allergens, and even endocrine disrupting chemicals as per recent Brown University study. This is a no brainer, school district folks.
7/ There's been an evolution of a lot of GR8 new #CorsiRosenthalBox designs. I applaud these (keep them going). But let's not forget the original guiding principles & continue to strive for even more cost-accessible & effective systems as well. A spectrum of cleaner air for ALL.

1/ The common cold does not do this. Taking simple precautions to not become infected is smart, folks.

Infected = much higher risk of cardiovascular disease and related death.

eurekalert.org/news-releases/…
2/ (n = 160,000 participants) "COVID-19 patients had a greater likelihood of several cardiovascular conditions compared with uninfected participants in both the short- and long-term including myocardial infarction, coronary heart disease, heart failure, and deep vein thrombosis."
3/ "Risks of some cardiovascular conditions – for example stroke and atrial fibrillation – were elevated in COVID-19 patients in the short-term but then returned to normal levels."

1/ Study by researchers at NIOSH/CDC add to the MOUNTING evidence that shows the #CorsiRosenthalBox to be a highly-effective means of lowering inhalation dose of virus-laden respiratory aerosol particles in classrooms.

sciencedirect.com/science/articl…
2/ "Do-It-Yourself (DIY) air cleaners are an alternative to commercial devices."

A much lower cost alternative. About $4.20/student per year. One Grande Caffe Mocha per student per year.
3/ "Our results show DIY air filtration units can be an effective means of reducing aerosol exposure."

Indeed, as I have been presenting in webinars for well over a year. This has been a no brainer from the start, folks. No brainer. Hope NIOSH/CDC paper helps lower resistance.

1/ SARS-CoV-2 in Davis CA wastewater through December 31 showing S and N genes.

"The N and S genes show the total incidence of COVID-19 because these two genes generally are present in any form of the virus."
2/ A generally harmless virus called pepper mild mottle virus or PMMoV, which is one of the most abundant viruses in human waste is also measured and used to normalize teh SARS-CoV-2 data.
3/ PMMoV is an indicator of fecal strength of each sample, which is a function of different population sizes, rain or water usage.

The First Annual #CorsiRosenthalBox Awards continue. Threads embedded in this tweet recognize all of the outstanding recipients of earlier awards. We end w/ the top CR Box Award - The Protecting Others Award (POA) (I know - the name of the award keeps changing).
The Protecting Others Award underscores a movement originally intended for making effective air cleaning accessible & also to provide an opportunity to build in bulk to help others lower their inhalation dose to virus-laden and other aerosols. This award recognizes the latter.💙
There were so many GREAT entries for the POA. So, we will highlight the g💙💙dness of many before announcing our top three awards. I note again that these awards are only for those who submitted replies to the original call as there are others out there doing great work!
