Stop being sorry for "ordinary" Russians. They have actively looked away for years while Putin crushed the opposition, invaded other countries and killed thousands of people. It's not like there hasn't been any information available, they decided not to do anything.
The old lady living in a small village somewhere in the east might be completely unaware, but there's simply no excuse for most of them. "We didn't know" or "we're staying away from politics" is complete bullshit. They did know, they just didn't care.
Now that the sanctions are starting to bite, what do you see? You see them running for Victoria's Secret underwear and crying that they can't monetize Instagram anymore. They don't give a flying fuck about dead Ukrainians, they are worried about their upcoming vacation in Paris.
