So I’m on the train home after doing shows for @LawCrimeDaily @ABCNewsLive and @Nightline where I discussed the killing of #TyreNichols so I decide to watch the entire #TyreNicholsVideo … is anyone catching some of the very telling things in the body worn camera video?
In “first traffic stop by Memphis Poloce (1), it’s the 11 minute video where the White officer pulls up behind Tyre’s car. Around the 10 mins mark. The Black officer says something that starts with “I hope” and the White officer says “I hope they stomp his ass!”
If this behavior isn’t part of this unit, then why are they quick to hope violence on him? And these aren’t the officers who assaulted him, they didn’t know what happened. So either this is just ironic that they predicted what would happen. Or this is what they do after they run?
After he mentions “hope they stomp his ass” he says that Smith is calling for more cars because he and Martin are chasing him. Is he specifically saying he hopes Smith and Martin stomp Tyre? Could it be that he knows Smith and Martin “stomp people out?”
Also, the car that initially stopped Tyre, didn’t have its lights and sirens on. I could only imagine the terror Tyre was going through as he saw an unmarked car pull up next to him then people jump out screaming with guns pointed at him
In Nichols video 2, I see at least a dozen officers on screen failing to render aid. Im guessing more indictments are coming. Also I’m still counting but how long did it take for someone to render aid. Paramedics get there around the 10:02 mark, but don’t look like they do much
Paramedics showed up, but after a while they leave and #TyreNichols is left on the ground. Officers just walking around him chatting. This seems like just another day for them
26 mins. About 26 mins into the second video, the one with the bird’s eye view, does Tyre appear to be getting medical attention
Also, in watching this video I realize no one’s body language reads “we went to far,” they flash a light on #TyreNichols from time to time so they see the danger they left. But no one seems shocked no one seems surprised. Hard to believe this is their first time.
And the stretcher final arrives at 28:30 in video 2. Why wasn’t EMS their sooner? When were they called? What were they told was the situation? Why don’t they seem more concerned?
So many more questions based on the officer’s actions given the situation
Video three now. They are so reckless with their pepper spray they keep spraying themselves and each other. It’s so bad they have to walk away from #Tyre. He must have been in so much pain. This encounter is a long. Murder in the first degree is sound less and less far fetched
After #TyreeNichols is kicked, pepper sprayed, beaten with a baton and knocked out. They calls in and reports the use of force used. 1st, hard to argue you didn’t know what you were doing if you can follow some procedures but not others. 2nd, why only report pepper spray was used
This was a gang attack. No other way to describe it. Their attacks were coordinated. This does not look let Group think or mon mentality. People knew to step back when pepper spray was being deployed. They held #Tyre out to be kicked, punch and beaten with a baton.
I’m not going to describe the actual beating. It’s horrible to see and hear. I’d actually recommend, that if you aren’t doing the for work or advocacy, don’t watch video three.
Fourth video. Camera falls off but you here a lot of audio. Officers say “he’s on something” defense will likely want a toxicology done with the autopsy. And they are talking about #TyreeNichols weaving through traffic. But so safe no proof of that being true.
Fourth video. Not a single officer is phased by what happened to #TyreeNichols. If I didn’t know that a man was dying after being beaten, I would have thought this was just a group a friends hanging out at work. This should bother them to their core. It doesn’t. That’s a problem
Video four. The officer takes his camera off, puts it down and walks away. But he is still close enough for the camera to hear him talk about the “haymakers” he was hitting #TyreeNichols with. They start sharing how badly they hit him, as if they are proud. Disgusting!
Video four. 11:36, first time I hear someone having their gun grabbed. Why wasn’t that screamed at the time it happened? This seems like they are performing for the camera. Given an explanation about why he was beaten. They may not know of the camera up high.
Now #TyreeNichols supposed grab two officers gun and they keep saying he is “strong as a m*therf” … they are performing for the camera. Playing off each other and creating a narrative for what happened. This is learned or taught. No one comes up with this on the fly
Pretty intricate story about #TyreeNichols alleged reckless driving after all is said and done.
