Gorosei are often translated as "Five Elder Stars", but a more accurate translation is "Five Elder Planets". The five elder planets/gorosei refers to how only the first five planets of our system could be observed in ancient times (1/9)
These were Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter, and of course, Saturn. Back then it was believed the five elder planets revolved around the Earth alongside the Moon. This geocentric model can even be seen in the Library of Ohara, where we see the Moon + 5 planets around the globe (2/9)
However three more planets have been discovered since those ancient times that exist separate from the five elder planets: Uranus, Poseidon/Neptune, and Pluton. These of course are the names of the three ancient weapons, who were said to be each bear the name of a god (3/9)
This holds true for our solar system too, as planets are also named after Grecoroman gods. This however also includes the Earth, which is also named after a god: Earth is the English translation of "Terra", the name of the goddess Gaia, also known as "Mother Nature" (4/9)
"Mother Nature" is also a deity in the OP world, said to be she who rejected the Devil's Fruits, the Sea itself, or "Mother of Nature Umi" in Japanese. And what is Umi backwards? "Imu". Meaning that Imu could likely be the "Earth" around which the Five Elder Planets orbit (5/9)
If Imu really is Mother Nature Umi, the Sea, then this would also add up to Shanks's statement that the devil fruits are said to be the incarnations of the "Devil of the Sea". Could this mean that Imu and the Devil, origin of all devil fruits, are one and the same? (6/9)
This would add up with how the founders of the WG were called "Devils" during the Void Century, while the people of the Ancient Kingdom were called "Gods". However these roles swapped after history was rewritten, making the Devils become Gods, and the Gods become Devils (7/9)
We now know through science that the planets, which also include those the three ancient weapons were named after, revolve not around the Earth, but around the Sun. Leading to this struggle between the Sun God and the Earth, the Sun God and the Devil of the Sea (8/9)
Still, some of this is stuff we can only fill with speculation as we still lack many details, but definitely keep an eye out on this connection as it may become more apparent overtime. (9/9)

TRANSLATION CLARIFICATION: In the Japanese version, Vegapunk does NOT directly confirm that devil fruits were literally born from people's wishes and dreams, but rather that people dreaming to evolve further led to their creation. How that happened is still very vague (1/6)
This doesn't rule out the possibility that he is perhaps being very literal, that they were magically born out of people's very own dreams, but the wording in Japanese is too vague at the moment to know if what he is saying is literal or more of a philosophical speech
I talked with other Japanese speakers, and the impression everybody agreed on is that he meant it more philosophically, that people's dreams do come true, particularly with how Vegapunk used similar words as Roger did in Japanese. But that's simply how it came off to us at least
