@NOTSeanMcCarthy The NSA and CIA are aware that both al-Mihdhar and al-Hazmi were inside the United States for 16 months, in August 2001, the CIA informs people at the Principals Meeting that they are in the US but dont tell them where or whether they had US visas.
@NOTSeanMcCarthy The FBI begins a search for the two men, but present no real effort behind it. Meanwhile Israeli and Saudi intelligence who were also closely monitoring the Al Qaeda operatives involved with the 9/11 attacks, were also not known to US officials until weeks after 9/11.
