1/7: Very quick reading of #Budget2023-

🔸The #FinanceMinister claimed that #PMAwasYojana has jumped by 66%. In reality, allocations have dropped by 11% from ₹90K cr (AE 2021-22) to ₹79.5K (this year)

How many more jumlas will the @BJP4India Govt throw at India?
2/7: Not a single word in the FM’s speech for workers/labourers. Plus, only 0.1% allocation to Labour Ministry. Additionally, budget for the Employees Pension Scheme has halved, from ₹18,478 crores (AE 2021-22 to ₹9167 this year).

Na kaam karunga, na karne dunga?
3/7: For a Govt that claims to be pro-poor, it’s strange that allocations for #MGNREGA have dropped from ₹98,468 crores (AE 2021-22) to ₹60,000 crores this year.

That’s a drop of ₹38,468 crores at a time when more Indians depend on #NREGA for subsistence.
4/7: Food subsidy has fallen by ₹91,619 crores (from ₹2.88 lakh cr; AE 2021-22 to ₹1.97 lakh cr this year).

And then the FM has the audacity to claim that the Modi Govt won’t let anyone go hungry 🤦🏻‍♂️!
5/7: Allocations for PM Swastha Suraksha Yojana dropped by ₹6,635 crores (from ₹10,000 crores in 2022-23 to ₹3365 this year).

Plus allocations for umbrella programme for minorities fell by 42% to ₹610 crores this year. And then they sought to diss the BBC documentary!
6/7: Transfers to states have dropped by ₹9698 crores but FM spoke about 50 year interest free loans to states. Strangely, she insisted that states use part of this to construct Unity Malls. MALLS?!

Didn’t PM Modi once say that “Govt has no business doing business”?
7/7: Finally, the FM’s speech was silent on-

🔸Fixing the huge NPA mess (₹10 lakh crores under BJP)
🔸Redressing structural faultlines in financial sector (Adani issue, ILF&S etc.)
🔸Smart Cities
🔸100 crore Gati Shakti Scheme
🔸Disinvestment/National Monetisation Pipeline

A careful analysis of #Budget2023 reveals huge structural issues that all Indians MUST be concerned about-

1/6: ₹10.7 lakh cr of India’s total budget (₹45 lakh cr) goes for interest payments. While most nations use 8-12% of their budgets for this, India uses a shocking 23.9%! Image
2/6: The @BJP4India Govt levies almost the same quantum of taxes on companies (₹9.22 lakh cr) as on individual taxpayers (₹9 lakh cr). Mind you, India’s bottom 50% also accounts for 64% of GST revenues.

Is imposing higher taxes on ordinary citizens #AmritKaal’s core mantra?
3/6: The BJP GoI has slashed allocations for the NSAP (which provides a safety net for the elderly, widows, disabled persons etc.) by a whooping 340% (from ₹42.4K cr (2020-’21 AE) to ₹9.6K cr this year!

Whatever happened to sabka saath, sabka vikas?

Personal observations from ground zero of #DelhiRiots in Babunagar, Brijpuri, Chandbagh, Karawal Nagar, Mustafabad, Shiv Puri, Shiv Vihar etc. There is a fragile calm, marked by a deep sense of fear & insecurity.

#DelhiRiots2020 #DelhiGenocide2020 #DelhiBurning
1. The burnt buildings were not contiguous, which suggests prior planning & design.

2. Many bricks were strewn about, which had been deliberately cut into palm sized pieces.

3. The Khajuri Khas canal had many old bottles & pouches, which reportedly contained petrol & acid.
4. 1000s of matchsticks were lying around, whose tips were grounded off. Reportedly, they were used to create hand made explosives.

5. Fearful of more attacks, families were leaving with whatever the looters had left. Uncertain they could return, they were scared & traumatised.
