Tips for dealing with the narcissist in your life:
A 🧵:
First, not everyone is clinically a narcissist. It’s a very small number of people who meet the criteria.
Human behavior is on a scale—so imagine the opposite of narcissist on the left and clinical narcissism on the right.
We all fall somewhere on that scale.
Someone can have narcissistic traits without being a narcissist.
When dealing with someone with narcissistic traits, it’s tempting to get caught up with their dynamic.
The trick to dealing with them?
Don’t.
Recognize that even though they will say it’s your fault and blame you, it’s not. This is part of their patterns.
Don’t get sucked in. They feed off of your energy. Getting a rise out of you gives them energy. Don’t give them the satisfaction.
If you have to deal with them, stay grounded in reality. If you start to feel confused, take deep breaths and remind yourself of the truth of what’s happened. Don’t lose yourself in their narrative.
Give yourself grace. They are very skilled at roping people in & getting them to play the game. If you get caught up a few times while you’re learning a new skill set, it’s ok. Just keep practicing.
Soon, you’ll be able to recognize & navigate this with much more ease.

Despite developing the surgery that saved lives & coaching the surgeon through the process, he wasn’t credited in academic journals for his role. He often had to take bartending jobs that the surgeon he trained hosted to make ends meet.
While Blalock, the surgeon Thomas assisted & trained often advocated for him, he only went so far. Blalock, despite benefiting immensely from Thomas’ skills, never advocated for pay or academic appointments worthy of his contribution.
My son has had three surgeries within the last three months.
During one of the surgeries, I encountered a Karen

I am not naming the institution right now as I am going through their grievance process.
If they don’t do right, I will name and shame. I also have proof of my claims that I will drop if needed. They won’t review said proof due to policy.
There are certain resources available at this org. One is “sleep rooms”. As anyone who has had a family member have a surgery knows, hospital rooms are not comfortable & are space limited.
These rooms are available and had beds and private showers.
