Fascinating AJ investigation into Mossad’s failed recruitment operation in Turkey.
The funny part is the Turkish intelligence played with Mossad with disinformation for a year and a half
• Mossad has tried to recruit Palestinians living in Turkey through social media like Facebook and WhatsApp, presenting themselves as NATO officers or think tankers researching on Turkey
• Some targets immediately contacted the Turkish Intel
• Turkish intel began recording every conversation they had with the targets
• Mossad made payments to failed recruits through mostly Western Union from Belgium, Germany, Italy etc
• Some times they have sent more money through intermediaries like taxi drivers
Sweden 'wants six more months' from Turkey to honor Nato conditions
• Presidential spokesperson Ibrahim Kalin says Sweden has eight to 10 weeks to make relevant changes because the Turkish parliament may go into recess before the elections
Swedish officials, according to Kalin, told their Turkish counterparts that until now they didn't realise how deep PKK had been penetrating the Swedish political system through recruitment and financing efforts
A Turkish delegation led by Kalin will meet with Swedish and Finnish officials in Brussels next month at the Nato headquarters to discuss the roadmap, Kalin added.
Turkish government has increased the monthly minimum wage by 54% for 2023, from 5500 TL ($294) to 8500 TL ($455)
The minimum wage in July, after a 30% increase, was $330.
For now, the minimum wage is the highest in Turkey in the last 20 years. It will go really well with Erdogan’s core voters as it did in July. He will get some points.
However it will be important to see whether the impact would continue until the presidential elections
The Istanbul court will issue a verdict in an hour and will decide whether to imprison mayor Ekrem Imamoglu for allegedly insulting the electoral officials.
A political ban also could be imposed.
He called his supporters for a demonstration outside the municipality
If the court strikes Imamoglu with a sentence, it might elevate him to the opposition’s joint presidential nomination.
His biggest supporter Iyi’s Meral Aksener is already on her way to Istanbul to support him against the decision
Imamoglu will sure appeal the decision and it will take some time the higher court to make a judgment. He can get the nomination and even run for the presidential office before a final verdict comes out
