/ Enough w/the comedy for now. On a more serious note. Id like to discuss the multitude of problems with #HLP but today on #HittingTwitter we will focus on an obvious elementary issue-COUNTER ROTATION. The root of the issue comes from @Teacherman1986 & his sloppy tee demos.
/ When I tried #HLP back in 2019 I began by copying Rich on the tee. At the time I didn’t realize I was twisting my shoulders on tee work and it was transitioning to live BP. If you notice @Teacherman1986 doesn’t counter rotate nearly as much when hitting live but tee everytime
/I had to go back to what I learned before #HLP. When doing tee work ALWAYS PRETEND THERE IS A PITCHER. Never just focus on the tee. I’ve lost count of the # of kids out here copying @Teacherman1986 and twisting the shoulders and staring at the tee! It’s elementary and very…
/ lazy of Rich. He should know better. Shoulders must stay square to the plate! Why practice something detrimental? That’s probably a question for another thread one day. Here is an example of that twisting of the shoulders translating to the game.
/ I’ve seen where young hitters are searching for their scap and counter rotate as well. If you are working with hitters, especially youth, details matter and sometimes less is more! Is scap a must? IMO no but if you are teaching it be careful and make sure they are actually
/ pinching the scapula & not the trapezius. A very common mistake.
/ I hope you find this fundamental information helpful. I will find time to share my journey in the future & bring some solid simple info to #HittingTwitter. It apparently is needed. In conclusion, here is one of my faves.
