THREAD: I will be live-reacting to today's House Oversight Committee, titled "Twitter’s Role in Suppressing the Biden Laptop Story" in the tweets below.
Follow along with the Congressional livestream here:
2. Table-setting: A preview of key issues for Committee to probe:
- AI censorship and the deployment of algorithms to stop citizens from talking *to each other* about the Hunter laptop story
- Gadde’s relationship w CISA & EIP
- Yoel’s wargame exercise with Aspen Insitute
3. Comer's opening remarks were excellent. Notable framing choices:
- Embraced "Virtual Town Square" as Internet free speech standard
- Championed Elon Musk as free speech ally, divided Twitter eras in to "Pre" and "Post" Musk
- Singled out Yoel Roth Aspen Institute exercise
Did I mention Rick Stengel, the founder of the GEC, is also a constant keynote and panel speaker at Atlantic Council censorship consensus-building events:
And if you want a real wild, Rick Stengel connected GEC to Aspen Institute Cyber...
GEC founder Rick Stengel, Integrity Initiative + DHS Disinformation Governance Board Nina Jankowicz, & Google Jigsaw's Yasmin Green, all coordinating censorship plan:
My take on the upcoming House Oversight Committee hearing on the censorship of the Hunter Biden laptop story.
Takeaway: Target them on narrative-level censorship, which is where 95% of the damage is done.
For example, I don’t think direct evidence has yet come to light confirming tweets about Hunter Biden were censored at the narrative level. We only know about the incident level.
Congress should press witnesses on whether Hunter-related keywords were added to the flagging AI.
It’s almost inconceivable that they weren’t. So the most interesting reveal will be how they rigged the AI to map out of the topography of conservative talking pointe and emerging narratives about Hunter to systemically stifle conservative and only conservative tweets about it.
They’re not just confessing. They’re bragging. This is how the raise donor dollars for new levels of funding — by demonstrating how effective their censorship was in crushing the donors’ political opposition.
Just 3 mo’s after the man in this video (Alex Stamos) confessed his 2020 censorship deeds in a public tell-all report, his group got federal gov’t funding for the first time ever, to censor future elections.
Bragging about it got him & partners $3 million. From your tax pockets.
