My phone was stolen on Sunday & thugs borrowed 80+k from KCB M-pesa, M-shwari, Fuliza, Okoa and the Hustler Fund. I believe there are shady characters at @Safaricom_Care, since the money was transferred IMMEDIATELY I reported it as lost. It's so heartbreaking to pay these debts.
I reported my stolen SIM card around 11:21 AM and just a minute later, scammers possibly working with Safaricom sent 20 bob to my M-PESA account.

This is really concerning, since the thugs had my phone for 6+ hours and had not managed to transfer a penny. #MainaAndKingangi
CEO @PeterNdegwa_ , I tried calling 100 to get connected to a live agent for about 24 h in vain.

Given that it's impossible to get in touch with a live agent in the case of an emergency, I would like to know if Safaricom is benefiting or complicit in these frauds. @kibeandy
Why is Safaricom tolerating criminal on their network despite receiving direction from the Communications Authority to block unverified phone numbers? Is Safaricom complicit in criminal activity?

Should I ask Junet & Kenya Power? I need answers @PeterNdegwa_
Given the advancement of tech, #ChatGPT , it raises concerns if Safaricom is equipped to handle future cyber security related incidents.

@CBKKenya Please FasTrack the proposal to break down Safaricom into M-pesa and Telco. M-pesa needs to be regulated as a bank.
Finally, I wish to PERMANENTLY unsubscribe from KCB M-Pesa, M-Shwari, Fuliza, and Okoa. @Safaricom_Care, please provide the steps for me to opt-out completely.

I want my limit set to zero, regardless of any future attempts to opt-in.
This is because I had previously opted-out from Fuliza, but scammers managed to opt-in, and Safaricom increased my Fuliza limit to 6k.

Is Safaricom complicit in these frauds? I know the Telco is a great Co., but it's no longer safe to use.

RT this thread to create awareness.
I am waiting for a comprehensive statement from Safaricom. I will write a separate thread to explain how i lost money and why i believe a few rogue staff at Safaricom are working with criminals.

Meanwhile, I've sent them a letter demanding that they refund 100% of my money.
Some FAQs on this thread,

Q1. We're you drugged or did you give out your Pin?

MAYBE. Assuming that I was drugged, the thugs would not have waited for me to dial 100 , 7+ hours later.
Q2. What do you think happened to your money?

I suspect petty criminals stole my phone but didn't have access to my M-pesa account. Likely, they attempted to withdraw the money in vain. Saf has the logs.

7+ hours later after calling Safaricom, another gang Immediately took over
Q3. Do you think they swapped your line?

MAYBE, thou it's highly unlikely since I had activated "my voice is my password" feature as well as enabled the requirement to visit the nearest Safaricom shop if I wish to replace my line.
Q4. Then , how did thugs siphon your account?

I DON'T KNOW, and only the fraud team at Safaricom can provide further information regarding the events that took place btwn 11:20 a.m. and 2:00 p.m.

Maybe, a "rare coincidence" or possibility of a rogue gang within Safaricom.
Update from the DCI : This gang is massive and strategically placed in critical govt institutions.

I went to the @Safaricom_Care Shop in Sarit and confirmed that opting out of these services is not a simple process since the option to permanently opt out is not available. Instead, I have been requested to write a letter 🤞
