The tragedy is that what led to 1918 pandemic flu was that 1918 was the inaugural
_Year of Picking up a Dead Bird_
And this is, in actual fact, what led to the Spanish Flu.
Just a bit of (completely nonsensical) history for you folks.
Here I am really questioning how and whether picking up dead birds would ever rise to the level of contact that would affect the progression of an airborne disease.
For example humans work at poultry farms. They breathe the same air as the poultry.
Let brain cells mull that
Very close to 50 million birds have either died of the bird flu or been killed, culled, to prevent its spread.
The number of dead birds picked up by random people is likely to be insignificant as compared to the number of humans exposed to the air these birds breathe.
We can continue to be the stupidest species on earth or we can get out of this hole and help ourselves.
Since I have no faith in us as a collective everybody should get a well-fitting mask now.
I mean a well-fitting respirator is now and forever part of our safety kit anyway.
(Hey if you want to wash your hands, go ahead. No harm. But risk-wise air is where it's at.)
(50mm birds in the US)
By the way just to be clear don't touch dead animals. Especially don't touch sick animals. They are probably a greater risk actually. Bring in animal experts.
Pandemic flu is not going to be avoided because a few people don't touch dead birds. We should focus on air.
Like Ebola and bushmeat π
I don't know how much more ridiculous all this can get.
The WHO is in bed with crazies writing garbage science that airborne virus is not in the air.
I'm told all I can do is not touch dead birds now.
Gov PH doing absolutely nothing about SARS-CoV-2 because it's "over".
I've been fed line after line on every issue ... all lies.
Then they complain "oh trust is gone".
If flu hits they'll immediately do exactly the same as they did for COVID, no doubt.
Life is fun at least there's that.
Here this took me 5 seconds to find when I thought of looking for it.
Pandemic will not be lit by some rando picking up a dead bird.
But hey whatever.
We've not gotten anything else right so why start now.
We can't even spend a few bucks to throw air purifiers in ERs (or whatever equivalent) to stop humans from getting sick and healthcare worker absenteeism, so let's see what happens
We got lucky with SARS, monkeypox, Ebola so far and unlucky with SARS-CoV-2
Which way this time?

I'm sure this guy is reliable for the @WHO to rely on to draft all their systematic meta studies of observational studies of virus transmission.

Very reliable
Here's the requisite "I'm doing good work and am being attacked for my conclusions not because I'm an idiot but because of some conspiracy. Please donate now" post
People seem inclined to post stuff about late 1800s ventilation.
I love it.
Oh, also ...
Here is Benjamin Franklin from the 1700s, saying it comes from being shut up with sick people because they BREATHE IN each others' disgusting emissions, etc.
Lucky guess? Maybe.
Maybe not, because nailed it.
Here is Dr. Small, pointing out he wished Dr. Franklin would write more about VENTILATION
Also mentions Pringle, which I posted about elsewhere.
Also point 4. Direct contact just means close to sick person, per PH. It's a poorly defined word per them, sometimes means touch sometimes just being close. Really this field doesn't define its terms. Unhelpful.
I'm open to proof this virus doesn't floaty float into our respiratory tracts (also our alimentary tracts). Find it and DM me.
No articles containing p-tests of ham sandwiches please. I don't need the idiocy.
