On Saturday, I was running 14 miles on the treadmill when I heard that my grandfather — the Ironman, the ultramarathoner — had a stroke. I was able to be with him just a few hours later at the hospital. He's on a long road to recovery.
Part of the reason I'm running the @bostonmarathon in April is to give him a hug at the top of Heartbreak Hill; my grandfather has beautiful memories of running Boston in 1979. tinyurl.com/devirunsboston
To get there, I'm fundraising for @LingziFDN to honor the life of Lingzi Lu — a student who died at the finish line bombings 10 years ago. It funds projects she would have loved: literacy programs, Asian American cultural centers, community gardens. tinyurl.com/devirunsboston
Will you help me get to the starting line? My grandfather turned 85 recently, and $85 would go a long way towards helping me reach my goal: givengain.com/ap/devi-lockwo…
I'm still holding out for that hug, and still training hard. Catch you on the uphills.
