Today's edition of "Why are they doing this?"
It's #GOPPlaybook
Part 2 again: Stupid
This is a longer one to explain.

For normal adults discussing issues
(anything before congress)
in good faith (not another agenda)
with a common goal (fixing problems for the Americans);
The normal exchange follows a formula:

We have X problem. Let's fix it.

We have X information/evidence/data about the problem we can use to fix it.

We have experts & real people come talk to us about the problem.

Together we all find the best solution to the problem.
Using that formula is called a "Good faith effort" or "Negotiating in good faith" meaning
though not everyone agreed on the same solution to the problem,
everyone agreed there was a problem to fix and that it is important to get fixed to avoid more harm the problem is causing.
These are not normal exchanges:

1. We don't all agree this is a problem
(weaponizing the DOJ/Twitter against right wing members of congress & the former President.)

Since we don't all agree this problem exists, we won't agree on a need to fix it.
2. We don't all have the same information. The Chairman here is trying to use information he claims to have to propose a solution to the problem & is unwilling to share it before everyone talks about solutions if everyone eventually agrees there's a problem to begin with.
3. We don't have experts on the problem giving their advice on a solution. We have laymen giving their personal opinions which do not make the solution better. We do have real people talking about their experiences but does not make everyone agree there's a problem in reality.
4. Since there is no established problem, no shared information, no expert testimony and only personal stories about a perceived problem, there can be no coming together to solve a non-existent problem.
So, why aren't these members of the United States Congress following these basic rules of problem solving to address this problem they are claiming is so bad, we need to take it super seriously?

The answer is simple.

They are not interested in solving a problem.
So what are they interested in? Keeping you stupid.

If they use the backdrop of a Congressional hearing, bring in "experts," big signs & all wound up Congress people, it must mean there's some really big problem. Why else would they be extra up there? Must be serious.
They know most people do not understand the details of the problems they are supposed to be fixing, it's some complicated stuff!

So they know if they repeat scary buzz words, look really pissed & attack anyone who doesn't play along, they can bluff their way through this show.
They know if they make it seem too hard & too nuanced to understand with REALLY HIGH STAKES (you're going to be arrested!), most people will be too intimidated to weigh in, get overwhelmed & stop paying attention & move on.
They create such a circus to keep you stupid about what their real objectives are (political theater, payback, projection, auditioning talking points for 2024, etc) while also making you think they care at all about the problem (weaponizing the federal gov).
