#defundcbc#defundbbc
I am left wing, pro LGB, pro choice, former Liberal/NDP, disabled woman. I grew up with great respect for CBC, but have lost it as I have seen them promote sexist, homophobic fake-woke "gender" ideology. More importantly, I have seen them FAIL to cover
/1
the IMPORTANT and compelling news stories that would inform Canadians about why women & ideology.
Canadians have not heard about the Tavistock Scandal because the CBC didn't cover it. We didn't hear about pro-trans countries
/2
like Sweden and Finland who have discontinued use of puberty blockers and youth trans affirmative models, because they have found that they do real harm-mostly to LGB kids and autistic kids who are diverse, but normal boys and girls.
CBC continued to stories on the "violence"
/3
of being addressed by your sex based pronouns trying to farm support for the erasure of sex based classes (which women's sports, spaces and activism depend on.) Meanwhile Canada is full of diverse and IGNORED marginalized people. That includes the working poor and disabled ppl /4
like me. CBC has occasionally covered the concerns of the disabled, but coverage of the housing, health care and inflation crisises that have happened under Trudeau's watch have been partisan and understated.
I will never forgive CBC for failing to cover the stories that
/5
/6 give them the information that would get them involved in stopping the biggest medical scandal of our time. And they can say they haven't known, but we've been tagging them in, writing them, & begging them to cover these stories. They have ignored us because the gender lobby
/7 is powerful, well funded and has purchased influence with them.
Gender identity ideology isn't progressive and inclusive as Canadians have been led to beleive. Find out why people elsewhere, including lefties and LGBs are fighting it and why CBC is promoting it.
*whoops. erased: why women and LGBs have been fighting gender ideology

/1 If you think I have become increasingly militant over the last few years, you are not all wrong. I live in Canada where the party (1984) is all seeing and promotes gender identity ideology in all spheres and speech. Those of you who think that the tides are turning... you
/2 ... I would urge you to be cautious. this fight will take years. There are times when we have a victory and breathe a sigh of relief, but the TRAs (and the lobby and the money) reorganize and fight back. They own our parties and orgs, and they aren't
/3 going away. In fact, it's more likely that our party leaders, faced with pressure on this, will pretend to back down and plan to fight on on another day than to really change. The situation is serious.
Many of my threads of late have been pleading with people to consider
I have some thoughts about furries, since many people fighting gender identity ideology have questions about what it is. I have some experiences.
/1 When I was in Toronto, I briefly joined the alternative scene, and the genderqueer community peaked me. I started fighting gender
/2 ideology. I most often see people asking if furries are a kink. The answer is yes and no. I met some oleo who were into furry culture because they liked cos-play and I met those who were involved specifically in anonymous sex (offered by the costume) and bestiality.
Because
3/ some people were into the costume but not the kink, I saw people going to events with separate floors (non-sexual furries on main floor, sex on first floor.)
Regarding the non-sexual furries, I don't think we can stop ppl from doing it, but I also don't think it's a harmless
Gender critical people have different visions on how we will exist with 'trans" people going forward. I was there with those who wanted to co-exist with transsexuals and only keep them out of women's sports and spaces. The problem is, the more you look into gender identity /1
ideology, the more one sees that this isn't possible. This is not the rare, post op, HSTS of yesterday. This is a huge class of people, and a harmful class. If we were talking about just dysphorics, as many GC people wish, that would be one thing. /2
First of all, most people are NOT dysphorics. Second of all, we can't tell dysphorics from non-dysphorics. Thirdly, we would more effectively help dysphoric people by talking about dysphoria, not framing them as trans. fourthly, as long as we promote "trans" identity /3
Several men have asked why there is outrage about men claiming to be women (#TransWomenAreConMen ) and not women doing the same to men.
Explanation: first, it hurts all of us when we frame diverse men AND women as other than what they are.
Yes, that includes women claiming /1
/2 to be men or non-women (non-binary and other nonsense).
There is are several reasons why we must talk about it more when men do it than when women do it. And it's shocking if you don't know what those reasons are
THREAD:
3/First and foremost male people are bigger, stronger, and a rape threat to women. Throughout history women needed protections against this. Did you know that before there were public toilets for women (that they had to demand and create) women couldn't leave home without
#transwomenareconmen
I support direct & aggressive attacks on the framing of men as women. That doesn't mean I hate all ppl who are misguided into seeing themselves as such. At the same time, I don't let my affection for individuals make me feel guilty about attacking the /1
/2 the label or concept. Insofar as certain famous, powerful, or criminal people use the trans label, we should be free to criticize them personally (J Marsh, Eddie Izzard). That doesn't mean we are attacking their personhood, but the lie.
There are too many people who conflate
/3 this with saying all trans people are bad. The people aren't bad, but the framing of them as trans is.
That's another problem in this community: there are those who want to coexist with the trans label and they think those of us who want to deconstruct it are bad...
#takebacktheleft
I agree and disagree.
There will always be a left right pull and a need for that pull. Our current lefty parties are lost and need to be punished into moving back to sanity. Sadly (and I agree with you that most dont want to hear this) it seems they won't /1
/2 make the change without pressure. For most of our parties and elected officials, that means loss of elections and loss of their specific seats. For many reasons, some of us don't want to punish them because it hurts other causes we care about. For others of us, this lie
/3 beats out all other issues.
I am a dissaffected leftist but I also need the left. I am disabled and I need social programs and care that conservatives WILL cut. My situation is dire, to be honest. But I won't be bribed into voting for my parties while they promote this lie.
