The bell rings as the door to the shop is flung open causing Ushijima Wakatoshi, the owner, to look up.
“Fuck, please tell me you can save it!” The customer begs, setting the potted plant onto the counter.
It’s…not pretty.+
“What did you do to it?” Ushijima asks, running a finger over the wilted leaves.
The spiky haired man runs his fingers through his hair, saying, “I don’t know what happened? I followed my boyfriend’s directions but he’s coming back in a week and I’ve killed our plant.” +
Hmming in response, Ushijima takes the plant from the customer, ignoring the shock that runs thru his body as their fingers brush. He sets it under the counter light, examining it for several minutes.
“I can rescue this.”
The customer looks incredibly relieved. +
“You’re a lifesaver,” he trails off, waiting for ushijima to introduce himself.
“Ushijima Wakatoshi, the owner,” Ushijima replies with a small nod.
“Ushijima, you’re saving my life. I’m Iwaizumi, by the way. Iwaizumi Hajime.” +
“Well, Iwaizumi,” Ushijima says with a soft smile, “let’s save your plant.”
Every day after work, Iwaizumi stops by to check on the plant’s rehabilitation effort. Ushijima learns many things about the man through the 20 minutes of conversation they have each night.+
On the fourth night, Iwaizumi comes in carrying a takeout bag.
“I picked up some food and thought I’d grab you some too.”
Ushijima’s heart races.
But Iwaizumi is in a relationship with the owner of the plant. He must not let himself catch feelings. +
He thanks Iwaizumi for the food.
The next day, Iwaizumi pops in much earlier in the afternoon. Ushijima’s just finished potting several blue lotus flowers to be sold.
“These are gorgeous,” Iwaizumi says, touching the petals delicately. +
“The blue lotus is said to bring enlightenment. Take one, maybe it will enlighten you.”
Iwaizumi chuckles softly, “Did you just make a joke?”
Ushijima smirks, replying, “possibly.”
“You sure I can have one?” Iwaizumi asks.
Ushijima nods. +
“Thanks, man. I’ll be back tomorrow for my other plant, okay?”
Iwaizumi waves as he leaves, blue lotus cradled carefully in his hands.
The next afternoon, Ushijima does something he never does-he calls out sick and asks his best friend to cover the shop. He can’t face +
Iwaizumi coming to pick up his boyfriend’s plant that is now thriving again.
Tendou calls him a bit after 6pm.
“You didn’t tell me the customer your avoiding was gorgeous?”
Ushijima cringes, and says, “He’s very attractive, yes.”
“He says he hopes you feel better soon.” +
“That’s kind of him,” Ushijima replies.
Tendou continues, “He was disappointed you weren’t there.”
“Satori,” Ushijima starts to say but he’s interrupted.
“Wakatoshi, I’m locking up for the night. Try not to get lost in your thoughts too much.”
Iwaizumi doesn’t come back. +
The weeks pass and Ushijima continues with life, choosing not to dwell on his nightly dreams about a man with kind, green eyes and spiky hair.
The bell above his door jingles and Ushijima looks up and almost drops the arrangement he’s been building.
“Hey,” Iwaizumi says +
holding up the lotus flower that is absoluto y thriving, “I think I need to repot this beauty. Think you can help me with that?”
Too stunned for words, Ushijima just nods.
Iwaizumi looks at the flower fondly, “Turns out this beauty did give me enlightenment.” +
“Oh?” Ushijima asks, getting to work.
“Yeah,” Iwaizumi replies, “It’s easy to care for things that are important to you. I guess that’s why the other plant died.”
Ushijima feels his heart race as he meets those green eyes that have haunted him in his dreams for so long.+
Iwaizumi continues, “Ushijima Wakatoshi, can I take you out sometime?”
Ushijima passes the repotted plant back and says, “I’d enjoy that.”
Iwaizumi’s return grin is just a beautiful as the lotus flower in his hands.

Atsumu is perpetually single this time of year due to his utter disdain of the love holiday. Iwaizumi, well, he hasn’t been single in hot minute but finds himself recovering from heartbreak.
“So fucking gross,” Atsumu mutters as his eyes catch a couple kissing+
Iwaizumi looks over at him, eyebrows raised, “Why do you hate Valentine’s Day?”
The two were walking back to their apartment. Iwaizumi had needed to find a place quickly so Atsumu had offered his place. They meshed well as roommates, much to their surprise. +
“It’s so fake,” Atsumu whines, waving his hands around, “buying things to prove your love is pathetic.”
Iwaizumi hums, before saying, “I liked giving gifts to my…”
He trails off, the words still a bit painful.
Atsumu gets it. But he’s never been in a long term +
40 year old Sakusa wakes up one morning and realizes he no longer feels in love with his husband.
He loves Atsumu.
But the spark that drew them together appears to have gone out. He can’t even remember the last time they had sex. +
He dwells on the thought all morning, but realizes he needs to know how Atsumu feels. So when they sit down for breakfast, he broaches the subject.
“Atsu, do you love me?”
Atsumu’s dark glasses frames almost fly off his face from the intensity in which he snaps his head+
up.
“What the hell kinda question is that?” Atsumu snaps.
“An honest one,” Sakusa replies, waiting for an answer.
“‘Course I love ya. Yer my husband.”
Sakusa frowns slightly and whispers, “but are you in love with me?”
Kuroo and Oikawa, college roommates, are panicking as they try to plan the perfect Valentine’s Day for their boyfriends.
Daichi and Iwaizumi, also college roommates, have the perfect day planned for their boyfriends. And it only took an hour to plan. +
Cue confusion when Iwaizumi shows up in a suit to Oikawa’s place to pick him up. Oikawa, meanwhile, planned the perfect movie marathon night and is in his most comfortable clothes. They stare at each other for a solid minute.
“Tooru, what the hell are you wearing?” +
“Me?” screeches Oikawa, “you are in a suit. I didn’t even know you owned one?”
Iwaizumi just has to laugh. He leans in to kiss Oikawa’s pouting lips, and whispers, “Love, I want to show off our love to the world. Go get dressed. We’ve got time before the reservation.” +
Atsumu takes some time to admire Sakusa’s profile from his spot in the car, how his knuckles tighten on the steering wheel, how he adjust the mirror so he can see Atsumu, how he somehow manages to get back to his apartment in 15 minutes. +
“Hey Omi?” Atsumu asks as Sakusa pulls into the parking garage, “do ya have supplies for a two person rut?”
He see Sakusa freeze, his shoulders slumping. Atsumu chuckles softly, “yeah, I figured. You go get yer place set up and I’ll swing by the conbini to get what we need.”+
Sakusa opens Atsumu’s door with a pout, “It’ll take too long.”
Atsumu kisses his cheek, moving back when Sakusa angles for a deeper kiss.
“Go shower. Leave the door unlocked and I’ll join you in like 10 minutes max.
Still pouting, Sakusa turns to slink up the stairs+
Atsumu hears the growl and freezes, every omegan instinct going rigid at the sound of an alpha laying claim. But he's the only omega on the team...which means...oh.
He looks up to see Sakusa snarling at Hinata who slowly removes his +
