Choosing books that do not align with one's interests is a primary reason for not enjoying reading & failing to love books.

Here is a thread for you; on how not to choose a book?

(Join me in the challenge #1000booksby2030 &let’s inspire people to love books)

🧵 ⬇️ (20 points)
1/20 Don't judge a book by its cover: While a book's cover may be visually appealing, it doesn't necessarily mean the book is worth reading.

2/20 Don't rely on bestseller lists: Bestseller lists can be misleading and are often influenced by marketing and advertising.
3/20 Don't rely on reviews: Reviews can be helpful, but remember that people have different tastes and opinions.

4/20 Don't base your decision solely on the author: Just because an author has written a great book in the past, doesn't mean their new book will be just as good.
5/20 Don't overlook the blurb: The blurb on back cover can be a good indicator of book's genre & style, but don't rely on it entirely.

6/20 Don't choose a book because it's popular: Popular books may not be to your taste, so it's better to choose a book based on own interests.
7/20 Don't choose a book because it's short: A short book doesn't necessarily mean it's good or worth your time.

8/20 Don't choose a book based on the movie adaptation: A book and its movie adaptation are two separate entities, so don't judge a book based on its film version.
9/20 Don't choose a book because it's free: Just because a book is free, doesn't mean it's worth reading.

10/20 Don't ignore your gut feeling: Trust your instincts and choose a book that appeals to you, regardless of what others may say or think.
11/20 Don't ignore the book's genre: Make sure the book is in a genre you enjoy and are interested in reading.

12/20 Don't ignore the book's length: Consider the amount of time and commitment you have for reading a long book versus a short one.
13/20 Don't ignore the book's publication date: An older book may be a classic, but it may also be outdated in terms of language and content.

14/20 Don't ignore the book's language: Make sure the book is written in a language you are comfortable reading.
15/20 Don't ignore the book's target audience: Consider the intended audience of the book and make sure its for your age and interests.

16/20 Don't ignore the author's background: Consider the author's background and experiences and how it may have influenced the book.
17/20 Don't ignore format: Consider the format of book, such as physical or electronic, and whether it fits your preferred reading style.

18/20 Don't ignore reviews from trusted sources: Seek out reviews from sources you trust, such as friends, family, or trusted book critics.
19/20 Don't ignore diverse perspectives: Seek out books that offer diverse perspectives, including those from different cultures, genders, & identities.

20/20 Don't ignore story's structure: Consider story's structure & pacing, & whether it aligns with your reading preferences.

Why we are told what we are told by media? How media is controlled by large corporations? How media shapes public opinion? How does media portray someone as villain?
How media serves the interests of the wealthy & powerful, rather than serving as a democratic institution?

Manufacturing Consent: The Political Economy of the Mass Media" is a book by Edward S. Herman and Noam Chomsky, first published in 1988. In this book, the authors analyze the media and the way it operates in capitalist societies.
They argue that the media is controlled by a small group of large corporations and that this control leads to the production of news and information that supports the interests of these corporations and the elite class.
