obviously i see "UFO"s are in the news. its almost cliche (because its so good it became the standard) to mention it but if you want to get up to speed on that, the best 101 really is the chapter on UFOs in orthodoxy and the religion of the future by seraphim rose. [...]
some normal people follow me (hello, welcome, how are you) but if you're on weird internet you are probably familiar with the idea that UFOs are an extension of the demonological phenomenon (generally parsed as 'aliens are demons'). that chapter has a deeper aspect though. [...]
it goes into how the 'conception of the universe' that UFOs inhabit semiotically relates on a deeper level to things like the occult and atheism. or rephrased simply, that theres also a whole worldview that our idea of UFOs implies, and thats an huge part of "the point".
its kind of like, dinosaurs. you have the dinosaur, but then just "a dinosaur" as a concept implies a whole bunch of other stuff - evolution, a lost prehistory, a kind of academia, potential extinction, etc (this is what semiotics is btw). UFOs also have implied ideas like that.
heres an audiobook version of it i found on youtube a while ago. after that you can obviously kind of go into anything yourself but the way this paints a whole picture, including "sci fi" world and stuff like that, is unique. thats why its well known
gl
if you want something else to look into to go deeper into such things, things like this (image) are also at this time a missing piece of the general puzzle
in my opinion
(im not saying buy and read this book, im saying what it [is] in terms of all this, many things like this)

little known fact in american aesthetic history is that louis comfort tiffany was commissioned, in the late 1800s, to do work for the whitehouse - on the entrance hall and the 'blue room'.
later, teddy roosevelt took it all out. the last 2 images here are the same room:
more images of what parts of the white house looked like in the late 1800s. this was all removed and replaced with basically nothing:
louis comfort tiffany was a next level american artist. if you look at the ceiling here for example, there are small american crests in the centers of the circles radiating out. a guy told me this was on paper that was handmade, and strips of ivory (?) were woven into it.
really genuinely enjoying seeing hundreds of people in real time (not this guy clearly) think about the 'is God male' thing for the first time, as a result of that story about a church + gender neutral designations for God
basically touches all my interests perfectly. delightful
part of why its so fascinating is that its extremely fundamental for people, regardless of how u feel about it, yet its so deeply woven into things that it feels like you could go your whole life in a church or religion without ever actually talking about it. clearly that happens
so you can have two people who are ostensibly on the same page, but when you ask them both this, they give opposite answers - and have an extreme difficulty seeing where the other person is coming from. they often cannot even imagine the opposite perspective.
if u dont have a serious water filter in ur house (one for drinking + one on your shower), you probably want to get one. check this out. friend sent this to me. this is one charcoal filter after a year (?) / year and a half (too long)
youre supposed to change them more often than that. guessing 6 months. but his system has two of those filters. so in that time (really under that time), its 2x that amount of “stuff” removed from their drinking water. thats only what you can see outside the filter after its done
you can easily get a gravity filter that just sits on your counter and isnt even plugged into anything (you fill it) and get something that screws onto your shower head. very easy. totally worth the cash. i can put mine in my car to travel (i dont, but i could).
a restorationist preacher and a guy from a local church are each trying to convince a man of their doctrine. after a long back and forth the man finally says, ‘i cannot tell which is true. tell me, what is the source of your creeds?
…
the local church guy says, “the philadelphia confession of faith”. the restorationist preacher says, “the new testament”.
…
the man thinks for a minute and turns to the restorationist preacher, and says “then i will go with you. it seems that your doctrine will lead me back to its source, to heaven, whereas this other man will lead me to pennsylvania”.
terrence mckenna often used a 'two worlds' model consisting of the world we inhabit, lets just call that the 'real world', and the 'other world' - here, the world of magic, psychedelia, crazy stuff, a world where the rules of the real world do not apply.
[...]
you could say the other world is the one that is more real, this is just a metaphor for us, so it doesnt matter.
his dream was to go to that realm, and bring back an item - some impossible object. some 5D self transforming non euclidian thing, that by our rules, could not exist.
so you could show it to people. you could hold this thing, and show it to the people here, and they could look right at it. they'd see it with their own two eyes. it would be undeniable, right there: evidence that our rules are not universal. that theres another world out there.
i have the thing where weird people talk to you / people tell you weird stuff. in nyc homeless or ‘crazy’ people talked to me all the time. wife has the opposite quest item equipped and is invisible to such people. this is a real life-stat some people have or do not have.
im stuck with owen jr sleeping rn so heres an example or two. went to this event. first guy i meet there tells me he lives in miami. rented an apartment, eventually the landlord stopped coming by to collect rent. that was five years ago and he has just lived rent free since […]
now he lives for free building little robots in this apartment. i go outside. im standing under a tree looking over a field. a guy just comes up to me and tells me hes cheating on his wife. there is no one around. im standing looking out over an empty field listening to this guy.
