Good morning Armoured 🌎 and welcome to a fresh new Valentine's Day πŸ’•

We wanted to tell you the story of what happened when Challenger 2 met Leopard 2 on a romantic dalliance. It is important as the armoured family has delivered a new child - Challenger 3!
So, imagine a cold night somewhere wild, and as Challener looks across the open fields, it locks sights with a rather fetching Leopard 2 A7, taking time out for a walk to think about the future ahead.

When! Suddenly the their sights meet and it is love at first sight!
After their first meeting, they decided to go back to watch @TankMuseum videos in their hides, AKA Netflix and chill.

A romance blossoms and they enter into a loving contract. After some testing years, they finally decide to take the next step and start a new family line...
And after a few more years and some new styles hit the scenes, they welcome in...
...their new born, Challenger 3. πŸ‡©πŸ‡ͺ πŸ‡¬πŸ‡§

AND their cousins have also come of age in the πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ and πŸ‡°πŸ‡·

Welcome to #TankTuesday and Valentine's Day 2023!!

It is #ManoeuvreMonday here on Salisbury Plain...

BUT... and hear us out...

We wanted to take a spin back and look at how allies and partners have helped to provide kit, equipment and people to fight against aggressors in recent history.

Introducing the Spitfire Fund! ImageImageImageImage
Unquestionably one of the most perfect aircraft ever built, the spitfires were the air dominace fighters of their day. They flew alongside the workhorse Hurricanes to protect and defend allies the world over.

What isn't well know is that a number of Middle Eastern Allies helped.
Not only in terms of staging but financially, the Gulf States Spitfire Fund allowed the @RoyalAirForce of the day to aquire 10 spitfires after raising Β£50,000.

As the Gulf states were very different to those that we know now, it was a huge financial gift.

Welcome to #FirePowerFriday

The sun is shining on our Challenger 2s here in Tidworth and they're getting ready to break out onto the plain!

Today, we look to our next Armoured Fighting Vehcile. It is the mighty πŸ’ͺ BRADLEY πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ

Operated by πŸ‡±πŸ‡§ πŸ‡ΈπŸ‡¦ and the πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ it's a beast! ImageImageImage
Designed like the πŸ‡¬πŸ‡§ WARRIOR to defeat the Soviet BMP family of vehicles and transport soldiers into battle with maximum protection.

It hands out πŸ‘Š with its 25mm BUSHMASTER (yummy) and when that isn't enough it has Anti-Tank Capabilty in the TOW Missile (& Stinger for 🚁...) Image
Making Infantry or Armoured Fighting Vehicles isn't easy.

A nice bit of satire in the Pentagon Wars video for your viewing pleasure.

@thinkdefence Awesome question and there is significant nuance to the answers. A leaguer should only be used when the threat allows, otherwise it is as is and has always been dispersed hides in woods, buildings, under Cam etc. And there is also an element of if you know you can be seen...
@thinkdefence Then what do you want the adversary to think? Reinforce what they may want to see? Deception? Lots of opportunity.

And the idea of loitering munitions not being countered, either kinetically or non-kinetically (EW for eg) needs to be challenged.

BUT the battlefield is chaotic
@thinkdefence And so it is as most things... it depends.

Love your work @thinkdefence , always delving into cool stuff.

And when we say kinetic hits, it could be missiles, bullets to even birds (as used at Heathrow to counter mini drones).

If we could have kinetic, maybe the MARKSMAN Image
