Revisiting Picard season one and it's still brilliant. Unashamedly love it. Shame about season 2 and fear for season 3.
I will say Mica Burton's excitement is giving me a bit of hope...
Protect her and fuck Rooster Teeth
I think what bugs me the most about Picard season 2 is the 180 on character development:
- Picard wants to go back to space as he's just "waiting to die" on the vineyard, as per Kirk conversation, but season 2 is all about him "staying still"
- Rios is "Starfleet through and through", but gets it back, seems happy, then gives it all up for no reason
- Agnes is so happy to be part of a crew, but betrays everyone to become queen of space because she's lonely
Bingeing season 2 instead of watching it weekly really highlights just how much shit they are throwing at the wall to stretch it out to 10 eps. Yes, COVID, but writers could have done better from home and the way they clear the decks for a TNG reunion this season is just awful.
Things that have already annoyed me about #PicardSeason3 (#PicardSpoilers):
1 Why is Riker not an admiral?
2 Why did Riker's wife AND DAUGHTER kick him out?
3 Why would Seven put up with Shaw? She would have ripped off his testicles and used them for earrings.
#PicardSpoilers
4 Why have they broken up the lesbians?
5 Why did no-one try to speak to Crusher in 20 YEARS!
6 Oh, they need a non-Starfleet ship to take them somewhere? Wouldn't that be a perfect reason for Rios to not have been killed off in the stupidest way possible?
#PicardSpoilers
7 They're not even using the Picard theme? Why are they even pretending this is #PicardSeason3 and not a TNG reunion series? They could have had that without killing off half the Picard cast to make way.
Fucking Paramount...
