Thanks to everyone who came. Brianna was an absolutely inspirational teenager, who will be missed by those who were blessed to know her. She was a hero.
The vigil was attended in the low thousands. We started off with speeches from different organising groups and let the streets know our rage and grief. We let the Tories know we knew who was responsible. Attendees lit candles, and added them to the growing shrines in her honour
But when Trans youth took up space and gave devastating speeches, they shook the city with their voices. They spoke, because who could possibly know better? They held nothing back.
Here’s what they had to say.
Fuck the state that killed her. Fuck the state that kills trans youth. Fuck the media class, the political class and all the transphobic filth. Fuck the Tories and fuck Keir Starmer.
Brianna was a treasure to the community. She helped others with their transition, supported them in need and braved through the onslaught of abuse she lives through. She was a fucking hero and she deserved to live.
We hope everyone got home safe. Massive thanks for everyone who could make it and who helped make it happen in all their ways. Solidarity all! Please, to quote an attendees speech, turn your grief into rage. We must make sure this doesn’t happen again. No more dead trans youth.
No more femicide and transicide. No more trans suicide. No more austerity, no more dead people of colour. No more frozen homes, cut nhs services, fascist police and no more dead migrants.
Don’t forget her and who she was and how she lived. And all the others. We can’t not fight.
