#Bulldozer 1. One reads about the 'bulldozer injustice' and hardship on ppl every days. 2. In spite of sounding heartless I am always skeptical about such news. 3. In thinking on this issue two personal incidents & definite knowledge comes to mind. 1/n
4. FIRST INCIDENT: were were running a free school for poor children. The kachchaa building was contracted with the village community help and after a consensus regarding the place. 300 children were studying in it. 5. The land belonged to the government. 2/n
6. We gave an application to the government the day we started construction, to allot the land for community school. The govt paid no attention. 7. The school continued running for 15 years, we kept on reminding the govt every year, no action. 3/n
8. Then suddenly the same land was allotted to a private university. We went to the court as the govt can not allot a piece of land before disposing off EARLIER application for allotment for public purposes. 9. Got a stay. Still the notice to demolish school building came. 4/n
9. we had to mobilize the community to stop demolition. 10. THE SECOND INCIDENT: in my village about 40% of gair mumkin charagah is encroached by people, some poor, most reasonably well off by village standards. some have build houses, others extended their farm land. 5/n
11. The encroachment is completely illegal. All the ppl who have built houses in Charagah also have their own land in the same village. 12. I along will 21 other residents of the village have moved a PIL in the High Court. 13. If we get orders to remove the encroachment, 6/n
13. ... I am sure there shall be same scenes of resistance and vailing and crying. Ppl who know nothing about the issue will take it as injustice. 14. These two things color my view on the bulldogger issue. 15. The school issue was in the court, stay we granted, hearing was 7/n
15. ... going on almost on daily basis. still demolition order came. I find it unjust. 16. The second, if and when it happens, will be after completing the due course of law, and will be justified in my view, even if the houses belong to poor people. 8/n
17. The news come across the daily basis is so confusing. There is no reliable source of information any more. one does not know whether the demolition is just or unjust. Emotions can justify nothing. 18. Tragedies show inaptness callousness of the administration, 9/n
BUT not necessarily the injustice of the order itself.
Very few people in the public outcry make the distinction. 10/10
