The Eminence in Shadow is a next wonderful light novel adaptation which is an unusual feat. From director's love towards source material, anime original scenes expanding on events, to telling the same story through different medium in splendid way.

Question: How? Image
Back in February 2020 author received information about anime decision and met with production members including Kazuya Nakanishi. This was not only Nakanishi's directional debut but he loved source material claiming so much he wanted to work on it after reading 5 chapters of WN. Image
During the meeting to decide the structure of episodes a proposal was made by Anri Sakano the mangaka to include chapter 146 of WN in order to better establish Cid as character to the audience and to illustrate what Eminence will be about. The proposal was accepted. Image
At the time only 3 volumes of light novel were out which is something that will be important later. Due to the specific structure of Eminence books that contain 2 arcs per book the team opted for a slower approach that normally would have been a lost case but not here. Image
Due to the peculiar nature of the material the team decided to lenghten the arcs in order to spend more time with characters that play a rather episodic role in books but also to make a better build up for eventual Eminence entrances and anime original scenes. Image
There was an important aspect that team was fully aware going into Eminence and that is the difference between manga and light novel in order to utilize anime medium as best as they can. Manga is heavily reliant on over the top comedy while light novel is more balanced. Image
What ended up happening is a creation that tells the same story by utilizing tools reserved for such medium and while this is obviously the case in pretty much every adaptation, doing so in such a way that doesn't lose a charm that got people hooked in the first place is key. Image
With the beginning established let's move to the other important aspect which many have no doubt noticed: Production. It was a breakthrough postion for Kazuya Nakanishi and possibly Nexus's as a studio with their small staff tackling a continous work from outside could spell doom Image
The results were anything but with the same names repeating constantly in credits especially Animation Directors with seemingly no decrease in quality. Nakanishi was in pretty much every episode and was heavily involved throughout especially in action oriented ones. Image
Daisuke Takashima was responsible for handling the more comedic episodes which Eminence had plenty of which have definitely worked in its favor but even so Nakanishi was everywhere, a feat that for sure should be remembered. Image
Despite the 20 episodes non split the team managed to handle production while consistently having very low amount of AD involved with very limited movement throughout. Eventually the show's finale had solo Key Animation by Nakanishi who delivered a spectacle like no before.
The purpose of this thread was to illustrate efforts of staff and background of Eminence that made it stood out so much. Splendid directional debut for Kazuya Nakanishi and devoted team that knew the strenghts of material and used the medium to its fullest. Monster achievement. Image

Oshi no Ko is shaping up to having a blasting premiere. The new trailer just hypes up even more while obviously omitting the core of show. The idol portions are no doubt going to be amazing. That short scene of Aqua and Ruby cheering was so adorable. I can't wait for it.
Throughout the trailers and in other promotial material there is a distinctive emphasis put on the eyes which is both narratively and aesthetically important. I adore this so much, it shines like a star would which is a crucial aspect of the work. Image
There is not much to be said about series without going into details, there is a reason why it is this heavily anticipated other than having a very good source material, being handled by great team at Doga Kobo. That is without a doubt a key component why it looks this good. Image

Blue Lock Episode 19

Blue Lock never manages to fail at delivering suspense and emotional beats be it through directing, seiyuu performance or music. This was abudantly clear during Bachira's backstory and I felt captivated by how it was told to the viewers. Image
Named after Bachira the episode first wrapped up the recent cliffhanger with use of clever emotional music and tense faces that both showed the egoism of victors and the anguish of fallen. The scenes felt reminiscent of what the titular Bachira had experienced in the past. Image
For some the bigger shook may have been who got picked but others could very well may have gotten a cricial hit witnessing the harsh words of Nagi towards his dear friend, thou ruthless and cold they may be, what ultimately has to occur is self reflection and ability to grow. Image

Onimai Episode 5

Experiencing outside world can be a fascinating but scary thing but once the first step is taken the rest would come swiftly. Once again a very fun and cheerful episode that may possibly had the cutest drawings yet in my subjective view. Such an enjoyble show.
It is adorable seeing the blob on Mihari's expression as she bursts into tears that Mahiro can finally properly do the daily activities she struggled before. It is a core element of show to socialize Mahiro from a shut-in she used to be to someone that can hang around friends.
Today we have reached the peak of Arc System Works promotions as over the course of Bind shows we got to progressively see more content culminating in a video ad above arcade. On a completly unrelated note this game rocks and you should play it if you're into fighting games.

Over the last few days Chainsaw Man and director Ryu Nakayama have been under criticism after BD numbers released with many using it as an easy way for mockery. While there are valid points that are being brought up most of the discourse revolves around misunderstood comparisons.
This thread will be seperated into segments with each one trying to illustrate a picture of a situation that came to be and understand why there is such conversation in the first place. There will be 3 key points:

1. Anticipation
2. Creative Decision
3. BD
Anticipation

Chainsaw Man was popular before receiving anime announcement with many people eagerly waiting for its release. Marketing was everywhere and Denji was on everyone's mind. It was ridiculous how big of a hype it has gotten with the insane team behind it.

Spy Classroom Episode 5

It appears that providing bonding moments and training attempts makes for a much amusing experience than speed running through books. Most of it consisting of anime original content that honestly gives personality and space to our cast.
Fundamental elements that tie this episode together are concepts of family which Klaus is trying to compehend after loss of Inferno and Lamplight becoming better as a team while trying to make him surrender. It is something that audience should have at least seen before mission.
It may feel weird considering that we already know that they end up forming quite a well organized team but having to witness beginning after all that is still nice to get some sort of explanation and path laid out even if effects won't be the same. I still think those are needed

The Eminence in Shadow Episode 18

When show is not afraid to simply mock known tropes and play around typical concepts it brings some of the most hilarious results. From NPC conversations, to Eminence roleplay and overthinking Cid does not disappoint.
It has been a while since last time we saw Claire and who would have thought that once she returned Cid's life would be in danger. Perhaps its not that great to have a sister so obsessed on you but on the other hand she would protect him, right?
Since Cid is already in an environemnt with non NPC he has to at least gather info what they think of Mundane and as expected his plan is flawless! There is something amusing when Cid pats himself on the back just how well of a Mob/Eminence job he makes when it is often so far.
