#SelfId has been voted into law in Spain. The law includes the right to change your sex in the registry without any requisites like medical or psychological diagnosis, and without any treatment/surgery, name change nor time spent living as the other gender. #leytrans #translaw

The law includes the enforcement of affirmation care by health professionals, ie a counsellor, psychologist, psychiatrist or nurse must affirm all individuals gender identity by law and give the individual passage to medicalisation.

Additionally conversion therapy is banned and health care professionals can be de-regegistered or fined up to 150k if a patient feels their gender identity is questioned by them or they are misgendered.

The law inverts here for the first time the burden of proof is gone and a persons subjective feelings can warrant you having committed a crime rather than objective measureable actions or realities. This point will be sent to the constitutional court no doubt.

The law includes right of kids to change sex socially at any age, with puberty blockers from 12 and sex reassignment surgery from 14 without parental permission nor prerequisite for diagnosis nor therapy before amputating healthy body parts.

In my opinion, this law will further obstaculise the access to mental health care for people with identity issues. A counsellors job is to ask questions, listen, not judge and not direct therapy.

How can this all be reversed now in order to affirm (judge), avoid questioning around gender, and be obliged to direct them to trans medicalisation information and referrals. Gender is not sexuality, it's identity, it evolves over time

If a therapist helps an individual understand themselves better and the individual reconciles their gender to their sex, they have inadvetedly committed a crime.

It will result in some gay kids believing or being told they are trans due to the forced affirmation of their gender non conforming behaviour which under different circumstances will normally just not be affirmed.

It would be better to tolerate gender non conformance as normal and not indicative of anything and let them develop at their own pace without affirming.

Affirmation will railroad some feminine boys into becoming girls/some butch or tomboy girls into becoming boys. + autistic and neurodivergent kids who struggle socially or with their sense of self, into thinking they might be trans.

From there on, the trans train only runs in one affirmative direction.

It will result in men with parafilias using the law to act out their paraphilias in public with protection since it's illegal and subject to fines to not accept the said identity any man says he feels.

That is;
men trying on womens underwear at the department store, men crossdressing at the office, men peeping in the womens shower/changerooms, men wandering around naked at the spa....

they're  no longer peeping toms nor is it indecent exposure as he is a self declared woman and he has the right to be there and you just lost the right to complain. You can be fined and accused of discrimination.

Basically with this law men with parafilias can subject unconsenting individuals, namely women and children, to whatever their paraphilias drive them to do and say it's gender expression.

It will result in encarcerated men especially pedofiles, rapists and abusers using it to self identify into the women's prison where the most vulnerable women and kids of society are held.

It will result in decades of effort in women sport to be ruined as now we have Mens sport and an open category where men will win both.

I'll happily support a law that improves lives of transexuals by lessening discrimination, improving access to good care etc. But this law is not it. By the way I can be fined 10,000€ for this opinion and possibly deregistered as a psychologist. #translaw #LeyTrans
