#kazuscara #scarakazu Cupid/Matchmaker AU threadfic!!

Scara was a matchmaking angel.

Not because he cared to see people falling in love or anything like that but because he was forced to.

Usually he got his job done as fast as he could, until he got assigned to Kazuha…

1/
The job was usually easy, ask the person who their crush was, shoot a few arrows, maybe cause a little drama and done!

Then Scara could do what he pleased in his immortal days until he was assigned another person.

Kazuha made things hard for him though…

2/
He’d read up on the Inazuman’s profile before engaging with him and it wasn’t promising. No dating history nor any interest in doing so.

Everyone had to have someone they liked though, right?

So he took the case head on and appeared right in front of the blonde.

3/
But to his surprise, Kazuha truly had no one he was crushing on.

“There’s absolutely no one?”

Kazuha nodded, “Not particularly.”

“Can’t you just make my job easy?”

“What are you supposed to be anyways? Cupid?”

“I’m not fucking Cupid!”

“Mmhmm, sure…”

“Fuck you!”

4/
Scara wouldn’t stand for Kazuha’s insults anymore and left abruptly after that.

But he came crawling back, not because he liked being near the insufferable Kazuha, but because his duty called.

In fact, this whole matchmaking job had been a punishment.

5/
It was like doing community service in a way to atone for the crimes of his previous life.

He had to matchmake a certain number of people and after that he’d be relieved from his duty, free to do as he wished.

And it just so happened that Kazuha was the last person.

6/
So begrudgingly he came back to Kazuha again.

“Oh. You’re back. I assumed you gave up.”

Scara rolled his eyes, “I need you to like someone.”

“I’m not particularly looking for romance right now.”

Scara snorted that was one thing he could agree on.

7/
Maybe if he wasn’t forced into this matchmaking duty, he’d actually get along with the other.

But he needed Kazuha to like someone.

“Is there a single person you like?”

“As I told you before, I’m not looking for much romance right now, so why don’t you move onto someone else?”
That was actually a good idea.

That was the second thing of any good that came out of the Inazuman’s mouth.

But much to his dismay when he asked to change who he was assigned to, it was rejected.

He was stuck with the single dumbass.

Kazuha simply baffled him.

9/
It wasn’t like there was anything not to like about him as much as Scara hated to admit it.

Of course he irked Scara, but so did everyone.

Kazuha had the looks and a charming personality.

If anything, he’d be the one Scara was usually shooting with an arrow.

10/
Scara had dealt with all sorts of people before, but no one like Kazuha who simply didn’t seem interested in dating at the moment.

In fact, in the little time Scara had spent watching Kazuha from afar to see if there was anyone he liked, he’d seen him reject advances.

11/
“Why are you so picky?”

Scara had made it a routine now to just hang around Kazuha’s apartment whenever he was home. It made things less boring, and he still had a job to fulfill. Not that Kazuha ever helped.

“I wouldn’t say, I’m picky, I’m just not looking for romance.”

12/
It was the same answer as always and it pissed Scara off. It was more than easy for Kazuha to get a boyfriend, and he wasn’t!

“Why?”

Kazuha shrugged, “I suppose I’m waiting for the right person.”

“So your standards are too high.”

“Not exactly…”

13/
“There’s absolutely no one you like?”

Kazuha didn’t respond.

Frustrated, Scara took his leave for that night. He didn’t even know why he bothered.

He’d be back the next day though.

Kazuha was the only person standing in between him and freedom.

He didn’t mind him though.
14/
As much as Kazuha frustrated him, he actually was the only person that Scara actually found tolerable.

He’d never exchanged more than a few words before he was done with his previous assignments, but now he’s spent almost a whole month with Kazuha.

15/
He’d hang out in Kazuha’s apartment or sometimes he’d accompany him as he walked through the city to try and point people out that he might like.

Of course though, no one else could see him except for Kazuha.

It was to keep his identity hidden.

16/
After he finished pairing people up, their memories were wiped of his existence.

The same would happen with Kazuha, if he ever got him to match with someone. It was a shame.

But months passed and no progress ever came.

Scara almost accompanied Kazuha everywhere now.

17/
One night, he even ended up staying the night in Kazuha’s apartment.

“Do you want any tea?” Kazuha always offered it every night before Scara left. He’d gotten quite used to the other’s presence.

“Nah, I’m good.”

“Suit yourself.”

“Did you see anyone new you liked today?”

18/
“No.” The answer was the same as always, yet Scara always felt somewhat relieved when he heard that.

He didn’t know why.

“Is there anyone you like, Scara?”

Huh? Kazuha had never asked him this before.

“No. That shit’s for you.”

19/
“Don’t you ever want to find romance though?”

Scara scoffed, “No. I couldn’t care less.”

“Then why do you try to pair people up?”

“It’s a punishment and once I’m done with you, I’ll be freed from it.”

“Oh.” Kazuha’s voice faltered. Scara didn’t think much of it.

20/
It was around time for Scara to leave.

Usually every night once Kazuha went to sleep, he returned to his home back in the angel realm. That’d be something he missed once he was done with all of this matchmaking shit.

He’d be free to roam wherever he wanted after though.

21/
Whenever he was on Teyvat, he was chained in a way to whoever he was assigned too.

He could only venture so far from them without being blocked by an invisible barrier.

Wandering was something he wished to do once he was done with this matchmaking.

22/
“Scara, are you leaving soon?”

“Yeah.”

“Could you stay tonight?”

“What?”

Kazuha turned red, “Nevermind, maybe I shouldn’t have-“

Scara didn’t mind staying he just wanted to know why.

“It’s fine, but like why?”

“Just a little lonely.”

“This is why you need someone.”

23/
Despite Scara’s eye rolls to Kazuha’s self inflicted loneliness, he did stay the night.

He didn’t expect it to be more comfortable than his normal bed, but there was something so warm about sleeping in a bed with someone else.

24/
The next morning he found his wings wrapped around Kazuha.

Maybe they knew something that he didn’t. It had been the best sleep he’d had in awhile though.

And maybe he spent more than few nights over the coming weeks at Kazuha’s apartment.

Kazuha seemed to like it too.

25/
Months passed and still no progress with Kazuha’s case ever came.

Scara almost forgot that he was meant to be matchmaking Kazuha anymore.

They’d just spend the nights together and almost the entire day.

He even forgot to ask Kazuha who he liked some nights.

26/
Though one night he was reminded of it when Kazuha asked him what would happen after.

“What would happen if you paired me with someone?”

Scara sighed, he didn’t like thinking about it. He’d grown to like Kazuha’s presence, “You’d forget me in your new happy love life.”

27/
“Oh.” Kazuha looked disappointed, Scara was too. He didn’t like seeing Kazuha sad.

“Well what would you do once you’re freed?”

“I dunno, wander around.” That was always what Scara had planned, but now he wondered if a life like he had right now was better than that.

28/
“I see.” Kazuha didn’t say anything after that and the matter wasn’t mentioned again.

Weeks passed by and Kazuha seemed more distant than usual. Some sleepless nights, Scara would return back to his own dusty home after sensing that Kazuha didn’t really want him around.

29/
It reminded Scara of how much he had built his current life around Kazuha.

What had he even done before he had been assigned Kazuha?

Sure he spent his time matchmaking as he was ordered, but in the empty periods of time between?

He didn’t remember anymore.

30/
One day, Kazuha came to him with a bit of a revelation. One that Scara never thought he’d hear.

“Scara, I think I’ve found someone I like.”

Scara didn’t know why, but he felt his heart sinking. It meant he’d lose the friendship he’d built. But there was something more to it.
“Oh, who is it?”

Kazuha turned red, “I don’t know if I should tell you.”

“Why not?”

Scara was sad, he was angry, but at the same time he wanted the best for Kazuha. He wouldn’t remember Scara after this anyway, so he wouldn’t be hurt by forgetting him.

32/
“I don’t want to forget you.”

Scara sighed, his wings tensing, “You won’t be hurt if you don’t remember me.”

“I don’t want to hurt you though.”

“So you’re going to sacrifice your love life for our friendship? I don’t think so.”

“Friendship…”

“Huh?”

33/
“Scara do your arrows work in other angels?”

“No.”

“Oh.”

“Why’d you ask?”

“No reason. Just forget I asked!”

There was something Kazuha wasn’t telling him, but he didn’t want to have to confront him over it, so he did drop it.

34/
He still needed to find out who Kazuha liked though. There were Kazuha’s friends, but Kazuha didn’t seem interested in any of them.

He didn’t know who it could be.

And as much as he tried to fish it out of Kazuha he got vague answers.

35/
As much as he wanted to find out who Kazuha liked, he also didn’t want to know.

He didn’t know why, but he didn’t want to know that Kazuha liked someone, someone that wasn’t him.

Scara didn’t even know why he was feeling this way.

They were just friends.

36/
“Scara what would happen once you do pair me up?”

“I already told you.”

“No, but what would happen to you?”

“I’d be instantly sent to the angel realm to be freed.”

“And how would you know that I’ve been paired up and the job is done?”

37/
“When the person you like, likes you back then my job is done. So usually once the arrow hits them.”

“And you would leave then?”

“It’s automatic, like the universe knows almost.”

“Oh.”

“Why are you asking me all this again? You finally going to tell me who it is?”

38/
“No.”

“C’mon Kazuha you gotta tell me who!”

“Just drop it Scara.”

“There’s no one I see that you see interest in, you haven’t been talking to anyone new lately. You don’t really see that many people on a daily besides me and your friends.”

“Scara just drop it.”

39/
“I’m the person you spend the most time with…and I still don’t know who it could be. I just want to know, Kazu! What am I doing wrong? I don’t even care about hitting them with an arrow! It’s just who is it? Why isn’t it me?”

Kazuha’s eyes widened…

40/
And at the same time the realization dawned over Scaramouche.

He liked Kazuha, he loved Kazuha and he knew who Kazuha liked.

But in the same moment he was teleported away into the angel realm.

He’d finished matchmaking his last person…except he hadn’t.

41/
“Congratulations Scaramouche, you are relieved from your duty now!” Nahida cheered as his wings disappeared behind him.

“I didn’t finish my last person.”

“Yes you did…”

“How?”

“Kazuha liked you and now you liked him back…of course Kazuha has forgotten you ever existed now.”
“Is there any way to reverse the memory loss?”

“I’m afraid not…now then, I’ll be sending you back to Teyvat. Any particular place you’d like to start from?”

“Inazuma. Ritou. Kazuha’s apartment.”

“Kazuha’s apartment it is then…oh and Scaramouche maybe there is a way…”

43/
But before Scara could hear what she said he was sent straight into Kazuha’s apartment.

He was standing in the living room and a bewildered Kazuha was just starting at him.

He’d truly forgotten him.

“Who are you? And what are you doing in my house?”

“Well you see-“

44/
Before Scara could finish his sentence he got beat up by a slipper. Since when was Kazuha so strong?

“Kazu! It’s me Scara!”

The name seemed to ring a bell in Kazuha’s head as he stopped his onslaught briefly.

Just briefly enough for Scara to lean up and…

45/
He gave Kazuha a kiss on the lips, that was the only thing he could think of.

He wanted Kazuha to remember him, he needed him to remember him.

And as cliche as it was, it worked.

“Scara? Is it really you?”

“Dumbass. Who else would it be?”

“I love you!”

46/
Scara blushed, “you’re so embarrassing…”

“What happened, Scara? I thought you were free to do what you wanted now…”

“…”

“Awww did you come back here just for me!”

“Shut up!”

“What happened to your wings?”

“I’m not a matchmaker anymore dumbass.”

47/
“Can I still call you my little Cupid though?”

“I’m not fucking Cupid!”

A set of wings appeared in his back, the same whit wines with hearts as he had had before. It was Nahida’s doing.

“Fucker!”

Kazuha smiled as he gave Scara another little kiss.

48/
As demonic as Scara was, he was Kazuha’s angel and he loved him for it.

They were a match made in heaven.
