The story here is similar to the mass rally in Germany that happened the other day. It's something like a constant mobilization of the same (transnational) crowd doing the same thing, wash, rinse, repeat. 🧵/1
The other day, the WashPo published a story about a similar rally in Munich: "demonstrations draw a radicalized fringe, with the antiwar protests taken up by many of the same organizers as anti-lockdown demonstrations during the pandemic" /2

washingtonpost.com/world/2023/02/…
You'll note that the WashPo makes reference to fascists and other far-right groups engaging in these demonstrations along with members of the far left. I should note, some groups broke off in the end to fight one another afterwords. This is the pro-Kremlin lobby. /3
This article has good analysis of the types participating in the ludicrous "anti-war"/pro-genocide spectacle: "just one more logical step for a set of 'Left' grifters attempting to establish themselves among the far-Right" /4 itsgoingdown.org/neo-nazis-clai…
IGD notes that the same leadership (Dore, Blumenthal, et al.) appeared at rallies organized by far-right orgs and leaders associated with the anti-vaxx movement. You can also track the Alt Right associations to the "Hands off Syria" events in 2018. /5

pulsemedia.org/2018/04/29/you…
The continuing confab between white nationalists and tankies isn't a fluke based on temporary alignments; it's clearly a feature of their strategy to unite fringes based on a shared opposition to liberalism and an interest in an extended synthesis. /6
The Mises Caucus is, after all, not an inconvenient showup here but an organizer. These are Alt Right adjacent, hard-right libertarians whose board includes ppl like League of the South cofounder Tom Woods. /7

splcenter.org/hatewatch/2022…
You might think to yourself, but what about Scott Horton and AntiWar dot com! They seem like a leftist group. Well, here's a few of Tom Woods's many appearances there, along with his large donation to them, and his tribute to their founder... /8
So as we peruse some of the other hosts, we find big time LaRouchites. Yep, the extremist conspiracy theory cult with a history of delving into wild theories of mind control and violence against leftists. The main character here is a speaker today. /9

newrepublic.com/article/170290…
And here she is apparently on a pair of panels (this year and last) for the LaRouchite Schiller Institute with Nick Brana, the National Chairman of the People's Party that's co-organizing today's event. But another sponsor is there too: Kirk Meighoo of bad podcasts. /10
How bad, you ask? He's particularly interested, it seems, in collaborating with Dugin's international network of syncretic political Traditionalism largely founded upon the fascist tenets of "National Bolshevism." /11
I already mentioned Gerald Celente, who's another speaker today... turns out he was a guest on a Rense episode with David Duke, and that's not all... more recently, he was on the pillow guy's show and Infowars. seems like a real gem. /12

Alright, you get the idea... I'll leave it there for now, because I'd rather be doing something else rn. Regarding Dore's flirtations with far-right libertarians, you have only to look to his Boogaloo tryst. /13

thedailybeast.com/these-dirtbag-…
Mentioned in the above are the ConvoCouch folks who wanted to see an alliance btw Proud Boys and antifa. They went on a paid junket as "election observers" for a sham election—a typical practice by Russia, etc., to cultivate ops. They're speaking too. /14

news.yahoo.com/nicaragua-paid…
Who else we got? Ron Paul? I guess he's not going to be a great left-wing representative. Do we really have to go there? Alright, I'm through most of these, so might as well get through the rest. /15

washingtonpost.com/politics/ron-p…
We have other LaRouchies like Garland Nixon. I found the "weaponization of rage" interesting given the context. LaRouche famously advocated theories that the English monarchy was responsible for international drug trafficking and antisemitic Rothschild conspiracy theories. /16
Who else we got? Dan McKnight? So here he is just a few months ago stumping on Veteran's Today, an explicitly antisemitic site that upholds the legacy of notorious Holocaust denier Ernst Zundel and maintain pretty notorious connections to Iran. /17 haaretz.com/world-news/201…
So we've got Iran, Nicaragua, and of course there's a propagandist working for Sputnik News in the mix of speakers, along with Ron Paul acolyte Daniel McAdams, no foreigner to the Russian propaganda circuit, as discussed here.

boundary2.org/2019/11/alexan…
This is a really impressive lineup of real rock stars who I'm sure feel strongly about the issues and have no commitments that might compromise their ethics. That said, they're also prone to RW coalitions and positions, in general. /19

And then there's Cynthia McKinney, who participated in the recent antisemitic "the Noticing" hashtag, and produced an image of the World Trade Center towers with the phrase "Zionists did it." Surely there would be better anti-war voices? /20

ajc.org/news/twitters-…
Oh that's right, this seems to be actually a pro-war rally filled with speakers who support Russia's invasion. This is a great thread with fine examples. /21

Almost forgot (let's not forget!) to round this out again by talking about Syria and the Kusenich/Tulsi thing. A good note to end this eternal return. Back then, everyone thought Tusli was left wing. At least now, people don't make that mistake. /22

theatlantic.com/news/archive/2…
Alright, I'm done. I wanted to do a threat, bc in part I felt I owe it to you all after so many years of these types of threads. But honestly, I'm old now, and there's a new generation of antifascists you should be paying more attention to. ♥️ /Ends
PS: I should note here that the German scene is not of course dominated by pro-Russia voices. There have been many mass rallies in support of Ukraine, and so there are lots of reasons to be hopeful.

The fascist student group tied to FdI is emboldened enough to attack high schoolers in the streets. The RW narrative of the Anni di piombo tends to elide reactionary violence (like this) that led up to the terrorism of 76-82. Is history now repeating?

I think histories tend to construct the Democristiani of the 50s-80s as "antifascist and democratic," which is partly true, but occludes greater understanding of fascist sympathies not only in police and armed services but throughout state bureaucracy during the period.
The spectacle of fascists openly assaulting left-wing students was fairly common in the '60s, particularly in Sapienza, leading to the murder of 20yo Paolo Rossi in '66 and the intensification of the student movement that led to the big university occupations of the next year.

one of the things about recent revelations regarding the Kremlin's channeling of funds through soft power groups dedicated to spreading information operations in Europe is that they point to Dugin's continued influence after supposed marginalization in 2014. a short thread. /1
Here was the first indication, after Dugin's apparent involvement in the corrupt dealings with Salvini's Lega. Dugin appeared far more entwined with the Kremlin's operations in Europe than previously believed. /2 newlinesmag.com/reportage/excl…
More recently, Dugin's close network in Europe was shown to be the point of the spear for information operations linked directly to the Kremlin through soft power groups... /3 occrp.org/en/investigati…

this is all based on an internal proposal floated within the university's IT department's Slack *last June* that was never followed up on. the @nytimes seems here to go out of its way to rub disabled ppl's noses in any apparent failure given the slightest (false) pretext.
this is just bullying behavior from a formerly dignified paper that seems to slump increasingly toward Quillette-style pseudo-intellectualism dressed up as high-class commentary.
it's real though, the US is a country that too often puts down intelligent critique and sides with bullies in order to perpetuate its mistakes in the most flagrant and petulant way. this is how we teach kids how to act, it's how we behave to one another, and it's the way it is.

Leaked emails reveal how the Russian Presidential Administration under Surkov worked closely with quasi-NGOs to funnel money into Dugin's network and manipulate the European information and political space. /1
occrp.org/en/investigati…
This is the most incredible part of the new report for me, because it shows how the Kremlin funded Ochsenreiter's fascist magazine, Zuerst!, and how they collaborated closely with Piskorski to run anti-NATO ops. Of course, RT and Sputnik frequently promoted both of them. /2 Image
It also notes the involvement of the Swiss magazine, Zeit-Fragen, which puts on regular pro-Kremlin conferences featuring Duginists, LaRouchites, etc, always trying to suffuse left and right in a "pro-peace" and anti-NATO framework that inevitably supports the Kremlin's fp. /3

In light of the OPCW's report on the Douma gas attack, which exposed propagandists efforts at covering it up, I thought it'd be nice to look back on some great articles opposing the "multipolarity" worldview that supports alt-imperialism. A brief thread of articles I love. /1
It's tough for me to look back to the Douma attacks, which occurred shortly before three of my own articles were baselessly retracted as a result of legal pressure and online trolls, bc it exhibited precisely what I tried to expose. Discussed here: /2 newpol.org/inside-look-ho…
Anyway, probably my favorite piece about the "multipolarists" is this by Leila al-Shami, who was very supportive of my own efforts and whose writing I will always admire. She gets into how chemical weapons denial is part of a tendency to deny genocide. /3: leilashami.wordpress.com/2018/04/14/the…

I absolutely disagree with Lula's "multipolar" foreign policy, but he's the democratically elected President of Brazil, and the present far-right coup attempt must be condemned in the strongest sense. Also, Bolsonaro's foreign policy sucked too, lol.
I hope this is a good moment to show that opposition to the far right is an internationally important position of solidarity. J6 has now inspired the same thing in Brazil, so those who downplayed it on the basis, eg, of anti-Americanism must understand how this is just blowback.
Since multipolarism insists on benevolent relations with far-right dictators like Putin, it will never be a cromulent left-wing policy, just a stopgap to try to gain power without showing the principles to use it in an egalitarian way. That is the major breach.
