These 8 forms represent
Sarva for earth,
Bhava for water,
Rudra for fire,
Ugra for wind,
Bheema for space,
Pasupathi for yajamana,
Mahadeva for moon &
Ishana for Sun.
Importance of Vijaya Ekadashi is mentioned in Skanda Purana. Also the importance of Vijaya Ekadasi was narrated to Narada by Brahma.
Shri Rama was adviced to observe Vijaya Ekadashi Vratham to cross mighty ocean to rescue Mata Sita.
When Shri Rama reaches Dhanushkoti with vanara sena, seeing turbulence of ocean, he became thoughtful. Lakshmana adviced Shri Rama to visit Bakadalbhya Muni who advices Rama to observe this Ekadasi as this month is very auspicious in getting all blessings & remove all Obstacles.
Gada or Mace is a symbol of physical strength of Shri Hanuman. It also means to destroy Adharma and retain Dharma. Carrying Gada means one must have complete control over anger, greed, ego & attachment. There is deep meaning of position of how Hanuman hold his Gada.
When Hanuman stands or sits holding the Gada upright in his hand above shoulders, it means he is unhappy with the current situation because of Adharma prevailing.
When the mace is lowered with the tip pointing downwards, it means he is successful in destroying Adharma.
