Language, terminology, style, academic culture, might decrease your chances to get published.

1.A PREMISE: Despite the challenges, writing in a foreign language can be incredibly rewarding. It will sharpen your thoughts and ultimately strengthen your voice. It’s tough but persist!!!
2.LANGUAGE BARRIER: Reading is key. Use style books, which are incredibly useful. Rely on good proof-reader, but make sure that they know the technical language. Approach translation tools with skepticism.
3.TERMINOLOGY: If you come from a civil law country, be careful. There are many false friends. TEXTBOOKS show the way out of the maze. Find “THE” textbook in your field and learn the technical terminology.
4.STYLE: English is a direct language. Your writing must be simple, to the point. Avoid long sentences. Steer clear of passive voices. Do not try to “look smart” by writing difficult. That’s a TERRIBLE STRATEGY in international publishing.
5.ACADEMIC CULTURE: Be respectful but remember… YOU HAVE A VOICE. You have something interesting to say. And people are interested. Do not be afraid to be bold. Convey your point with clarity.
6.FIND HONEST READERS. People in the field, who will criticize you. Criticisms will help you grow stronger. They will help you express your ideas more powerfully. Do not fish for compliments. They may be sweet, but not very useful.
7. REWRITE, REWRITE, REWRITE. PERSIST. Have faith in yourself because you can make it.
