A lot of people have asked me my views of the leadership contest. Truthfully, I have been incredibly hurt so far. Hurt originating with the statements @_KateForbes has made and since stood by. I, like most people in Scotland, could not care less about someone’s religion. (1/10)
If your faith says you cannot drink alcohol, then don’t. If your religion says you cannot enter same sex marriage, then don’t. If your religion does not allow for abortion, then do not have one. (2/10)
However, the moment you use your religion to justify voting against me having access to any of the above, then it is you who is showing intolerance. (3/10)
What you practice in your own time, and how you subscribe to live your life is your business, but as a lawmaker, if you choose to allow your religion to try and deny me my basic human rights, then *you* make it my business. (4/10)
The idea that Kate is being ‘persecuted’, or that there is a ‘witch hunt’ or ‘unionist media plot’ against her is utterly fanciful at best and a dangerous conspiracy theory at worst. (5/10)
Holding candidates to account, and scrutinising what they have said themselves - on camera, voluntarily, as a pitch to be the next FM of Scotland - is not abuse. (6/10)
Had a candidate said they do not believe in racially mixed marriages we would rightly be horrified - so why is my marriage still considered fair game? (7/10)
How I, and others, are expected to have faith in a leader who unashamedly and publicly believes the love between my wife and I should not be legally recognised, is beyond me (8/10)
Where there has since been shallow calls for, and promises of tolerance made, I find myself thinking of what Humza has said and understood for years: I don’t want to be tolerated, I want to be equal. (9/10)
Kate hasn’t just jeopardised a lot of activists and members, she has alienated swathes of the population before she’s even started. We need, and should expect, better judgement, communication, and leadership skills if we are to ever convince others of independence. (10/10)

After years of being the subject of baseless accusations and conspiracy theories, @NicolaSturgeon did herself proud today and kept her cool in the face of some truly heinous and disgraceful questions.
The treatment of the complainants, and of women in general, has been largely sidelined in favour of covering one man’s self centred conspiracy theories.
To see just how far we still have to go to ensure women are safe at work you need only look at the First Minister being asked to apologise for her male predecessors actions, or at the suggestion from one member that the First Minister should have intervened to force arbitration.

If my school had invited a gay MP and a drag queen to visit during LGBT History Month, or even acknowledged that LGBT History Month existed, it would have made an immeasurable difference to the difficult childhoods my LGBT classmates and I had.
Yet so many people in my mentions want acknowledgment of LGBT people shut down because you still think there’a something inappropriate in our existence. You’re willing to see another generation of LGBT people growing up believing that who they are should be hidden away.
Never mind the fact that doing so in the past has left a massively disproportionate number of LGBT people, generation after generation including my own, suffering severe mental health problems and higher suicide rates.

The Tories have launched a data mining website called get-brexit-done.com. On the website you can pop in your postcode and the website will give you a handy explainer about your MPs Brexit position and why, if they’re not in favour of the Governments position, it’s wrong.
It takes your email address, first and last name and then invites you to write a little message to your MP. You can tick a box if you want CCHQ emailing you everything they’re up to. Under the giant SEND button there’s then some tiny text explaining that by clicking the giant...
... send button, you’re consenting to CCHQ emailing you everything they’re up to, which seems dubious at best.

The sanctions regime is disgusting. The idea that punishing those who are already some of the worst off in society by depriving them of the limited means they have access to helps them into the workplace is discredited.
Discredited and designed only to appeal to the kind of person who calls those accessing the safety net of social security “scroungers” and “work shy” etc. An ideologically lead system that leaves people to starve.
And by the way, if you are the kind of person who says things like “benefit scroungers” or the kind of person that thinks starving people is worth it because it’s helping the national debt, you should know sanctions cost more to administer than they save. m.huffingtonpost.co.uk/entry/benefits…
