My daughter has #crohnsdisease. I was told today that @AnthemBCBS will not allow her RX for another THREE WEEKS. Her dr. say she needs the RX every 4 wks; @AnthemBCBs says 8 weeks. 1/x
@AnthemBCBS Right now, she's got the same symptoms that escalated last fall into 2 hospital admissions, one operation, and a feeding tube. That time around @AnthemBCBS initially DENIED coverage of the RX that got the flare under control. 2/x
Only after several applications did they cover the RX at HALF the frequency her dr ordered. And so we are back here, worrying about another hospital admission. I don't like outrage porn, but please RT. I've seen Tweets move medical bureaucracy and @AnthemBCBS needs to move. Fin/x
UPDATE: Because @AnthemBCBS refuses to cover the RX dose prescribed by her dr my daughter has to go back on steroids, which have both immediate side effects and can cause long-term damage.

A paradox: The very politically aware are interested in the public good. So formally at least they are concerned about others. But almost without exception the more politically engaged a person is the less I trust that they will be kind and decent in personal interactions. 1/x
It's not that all ideologically motivated people are monsters. Many are not, but there are two problems: 1st passionate hatred of injustice often cultivates a habit of passionate hatred. People get good at hating. 2/x
2nd the public good creates a permission structure for defining some people as enemies. Thus, when I'm among the politically intense I am always worried. 3/x
