From 2013-2016 @USAID supported a pediatric cardiac surgery program Save a Child’s Heart. SACH is an international, non-profit organization, based in Israel, with the mission of improving the quality of pediatric cardiac care for children from around the world.
SACH has provided care to over 4,200 children, approximately 250 children per year, from 53 developing countries in Africa, South America, Europe, Asia and throughout the Middle East, including the Palestinian Authority.
Now imagine if @USAID teamed up with @USNavy#PacificPartnership to make the Mercy Hospital ship a floating pediatric cardiac surgery care center in the #PacificIslands for 6-8 weeks. Hundreds of kids there could get evaluation and treatment.
#PacificPartnership needs a make over after 17 years. It needs to be more relevant, deliver more value and fill in gaps in care while supporting capacity building. DOD wants to see more #PP missions, but who benefits more from more of the same. US or host nation.
