Day 25 of the #MurdaughTrial. The gallery gets admonished again about cheers & jeers when they hear testimony. Defense expects to rest their case today & are still requesting that the Jury visit Moselle. State plans to wrap up the rebuttal witnesses by tomorrow. The end is near!

Creighton objects. He doesn't want the jury to go to Moselle. He states the property isn't the same as it was the night of 6/7/21. Judge says this might cause the Jury to make premature conclusions. But if the Defense wants a jury view, they'll arrange a jury view. #MurdaughTrial

First witness today is forensic pathologist, Dr. Jonathan Eisenstat. He went to the same school as Dr. Diemer. #MurdaughTrial

He goes through his background. #MurdaughTrial

He is admitted as an Expert. He is being paid $3,000 plus his post-trial invoice. He charges $5,500 per day for testimony. He's been told that he undercharges. #MurdaughTrial

TOD is not an exact science, but you want to get the body temperature of the victim(s). You get the ambient temperature first, then you get a rectal temperature. This gives you the core body temperature. #MurdaughTrial

You wouldn't learn anything by sticking your hands under the victim's armpits. That is not a valid method to determine TOD. #MurdaughTrial

Dick is bringing up sealed materials - Exhibits 177 and 178. We won't be able to see these exhibits. State objects. Judge hasn't seen the exhibits (reports from Dr. Riemer). He is viewing them now. #MurdaughTrial

Judge admits the exhibits over objection. #MurdaughTrial

Eisenstat and Reimer agree on some things, but disagree on others, like the direction of one of the bullets that hit Maggie. #MurdaughTrial

Eisenstat also disagrees with Riemer about the direction the bullets came from that hit Paul.

Next witness (second to last witness for the Defense) is Tim Palmbach, a crime scene analyst. Sounds like he may testify about the blood spatter. #MurdaughTrial

He also has a law degree. #MurdaughTrial

He believes Paul was shot first. The shooter was directly over Paul's head. There was tissue from Paul's head all the way up to the ceiling. He also mentions the force of the pellets and where they ended up and were wedged. #MurdaughTrial

It would have been hard for one shooter to handle two long guns to commit these murders. One of the guns had enough rounds of ammo in the magazine so there really was no need for two guns. #MurdaughTrial

XE by State: He just got to go out to Moselle last Friday. He did not write up a report. #MurdaughTrial

The shooter could have stepped into the feed room. He would have been covered in blood as a result of the back spatter. There were partial footprints in the feed room. He did not read a report that conclusively said they were Paul's. #MurdaughTrial

He confirms he is not a footprint expert so he refers back to the reports that he read. Those reports did not definitively confirm that the footprints belonged to Paul. #MurdaughTrial

She is showing him photos that are not allowed to be viewed by us. There were pieces of Paul's brain throughout the room. It was a mass on the ground. Paul's face was not destroyed. They are discussing some physics stuff... #MurdaughTrial

Last witness for Defense is John Marvin Murdaugh, Alex's brother. #MurdaughTrial

They have two other siblings, Randy and Lynn. He's the only son who did not go to law school. #MurdaughTrial

They are a close family. He says they are a normal family and they do normal family things. #MurdaughTrial

Yesterday was Ms. Libby's birthday. Happy Belated Birthday Ms. Libby!! #MurdaughTrial

In the Spring of 2021, Mr. Randolph was in poor health from multiple forms of cancer. He was in and out of the hospital and was quite sick. #MurdaughTrial

Alex and Randy visited their parents more than he did because he does not live in town. #MurdaughTrial

He gets emotional talking about Paul. They were very close. One of Paul's nicknames was "Little Rooster". He confirms that he was called "Paul Paul".

On 6/7, he took their dad to a routine doctor appointment. At that appointment, they were informed that Mr. Randolph would need to be admitted to the hospital. #MurdaughTrial

Mr. Randolph passed a few days later on 6/10/21. #MurdaughTrial

On the day of 6/7/21, the family did some vehicle swapping when taking Mr. Randolph to the doctor. #MurdaughTrial

The last time John Marvin saw Paul, he was playing with his kids. 😔 #MurdaughTrial

Alex was the one who told him about Maggie & Paul being murdered. He took Paul's farm truck to head to Moselle, but the truck broke down. Greg Alexander met him and got him to Moselle. #MurdaughTrial

He's not sure if there were any guns in Paul's work truck. #MurdaughTrial

Alex was distraught & broken when he arrived. He doesn't even recall if they spoke. They just hugged & cried. #MurdaughTrial

There were a number of people there. It was well after midnight when they went to the house. When they got in the house, there were people cleaning & straightening up. He did see the pots. #MurdaughTrial

He believes Alex had a shower before he left Moselle & went to Almeda. #MurdaughTrial

On 6/8/21, he went to Greenfield & then went back to Moselle. He was the first one there. He waited for Alex & the others to arrive. #MurdaughTrial

He did go back down to the kennels. He reached out to a friend in LE to get the clear that he could go to the kennels. Ryan Neal had given the ok for them to go back down to the kennels. #MurdaughTrial

He walked over to the feed room, it had not been cleaned up. He saw blood, brains, tissue, etc. He felt like he owed it to Paul to clean it up so that's what he did. He was overwhelmed & said no family member should have to do what he did or see what he saw. #MurdaughTrial

Mark Ball showed up not too long after and told him to leave it, they would handle the rest of the clean up. A lot of people were at the house at that point. #MurdaughTrial

It was brought to his attention that Maggie's phone was missing. He went to Buster & they found the phone via an app such as "Find My Friends" or "Find My iPhone". He went to who he assumed to be a SLED Agent & showed them. #MurdaughTrial

The Agent wouldn't go to the phone. They hold him that they had someone coming. So John Marvin went & told Duffie Stone & they went ahead and went to the phone before the battery died. JMM & the Solicitor's office found the phone in a matter of minutes. #MurdaughTrial

John Marvin got the passcode for Maggie's phone from Alex. #MurdaughTrial

There was a news release on 6/8/21 stating that the public was safe. This was brought up earlier as proof that they immediately focused on Alex & only Alex as the suspect. #MurdaughTrial

Nobody asked to search Almeda on 6/8/21. #MurdaughTrial

SLED interviews were conducted in the Agent's vehicles. JMM confirms in the interview video with Alex, he says, "THEY did him so bad." #MurdaughTrial

We're taking a break while the Prosecution and Defense argue over an Objection. #MurdaughTrial

Judge overrules the State's objection. 10 minute break. #MurdaughTrial

Back from break. SLED asked the siblings to attempt to ID a coat and a recording. They went to Agent Neal's office and they made reference to the shirt Alex was wearing that had blood on it. That's how they knew that "he was the one." #MurdaughTrial

Alex had a great relationship with Papa T (Maggie's dad). He has had a stroke and is home bound. Maggie's mother stays home and cares for Papa T. #MurdaughTrial

While cleaning up at the feed room, he promised Paul that he would find out how did this to me. To this day, he has not found out who did this. Direct ends. #MurdaughTrial

XE: JMM, Alex and everyone else in the family has fully cooperated with SLED. #MurdaughTrial

He found out about the kennel video at the interview with SLED. He heard the voice and knew that was Alex. He does not recall the date of that interview. It was sometime in August of 2022. #MurdaughTrial

By him not telling SLED that he was at the kennels means that Alex did not fully cooperate with LE. #MurdaughTrial

At the end of the day on 6/7/21, Paul drove JMM's F150 to Moselle. When JMM arrived, the truck was parked in front of the house. The keys to the truck were sitting in the ignition, like he himself always leaves them. #MurdaughTrial

JMM was in the white F250 farm truck that broke down and was left on side of the road. #MurdaughTrial

JMM was not aware that Alex had loaned Greg Alexander money on a few occasions. #MurdaughTrial

JMM was not aware of Alex's opiod addiction. JMM lives in Beaufort and does not see Alex daily. #MurdaughTrial

To JMM's observations, Alex was able to function normally. #MurdaughTrial

On 6/8/21, JMM does not recall when Blanca arrived. She arrived at Moselle well after him. He did go into the gun room while SLED was there. He is captured on the body cam footage. #MurdaughTrial

Without seeing the video, he cannot name every other person who was in the gun room with the SLED agents. There were several attorneys in the room. #MurdaughTrial

On 6/10/21, Randy, JMM, Alex and Buster were all interviewed. JMM offered for the Agents to come inside the lodge at Greenfield, but the interviews were instead conducted in the Agent's vehicles. #MurdaughTrial

On 10/12/21, SLED went to JMM's house & interviewed him & his wife, they also separately interviewed Buster. JMM sat in on both of those interviews. JMM does not recall them asking Buster about a blue jacket. There was no blue jacket duscussion in that interview. #MurdaughTrial

State asks about a response Buster gave to be asked about the blue jacket. Defense objects. Judge sustains. #MurdaughTrial

Yes, the family name and legacy is important. All families feel that way. We are done with John Marvin Murdaugh. The Defense rests. Jury is dismissed. #MurdaughTrial

Defense renews their Motion for Directed Verdict. State says Motion should be denied based on what was stated at the end of the State's case. Judge denies Motion. #MurdaughTrial

State has 4, maybe 5, reply witnesses. He MAY possibly get through all of them tomorrow. (which means he won't - LOL!) Dick says we're probably looking at Wednesday for the State to wrap up. Then the Jury will go out to Moselle. #MurdaughTrial
