Pete Carroll on the number 1 thing the #Seahawks are looking for in prospects:

"We want to keep adding competitive guys that are really over-the-top that way. You know, as much as anything. We hit it with the height-weight-and speed thing with Tariq Woolen." (1)
"But we found out that he was a terrific competitor too. And, you know, I can’t tell you that we knew all of that early on, because it was kind of a, you know, he was a fifth round pick and all that. But we want to keep adding to it," (2)
"because the guys that came through this year for us, in this last year’s draft, all have great make-up. They have confidence in themself. They’ve got the willingness to say ‘okay, I don’t know everything but I’m gonna dig in and fight and claw and scratch, and hang with it.’"(3)
"And we were rewarded with a great class last year, you know, of guys. And it’s the makeup of the kids that is so important. And we really want to stay with that and make sure that that’s at the very source of what we’re doing in this process." (4)

Carroll was speaking to PFT.

Pete Carroll on the #Seahawks defense to PFT Mike Florio and Chris Simms:

"We’re in a transition of evolution for us that’s really, really exciting to me. And so we’ve mixed—I wanted to expand the things that we were doing in the secondary, and so we’ve done that." (1)
"And we need to hone in on it and make it come to life in a big way. I think there’s a lot of magic in what we’re doing right now. And we’ve got to put it together. And make sure that our players can express it," (2)
"that it fits them so that they can show what they’re capable of doing in a big way, in a consistent way with great confidence and commitment and all that. So that’s what we’re doing. And it’s an exciting time for Clint and I, as we’re working it out." (3)

John Schneider on WRs, lack of true no.1 Xs in the NFL, Dareke Young:

"That position’s so unique, because there’s so many different types of receivers. You know, you get a big, slow, strong, possession receiver in there. You get a super quick guy like Marquise Goodwin." (1)
"Tyler can play all three spots. We all know what DK is and what he brings, right? I would tell you that around the National Football League, there aren’t a lot of 1s, you know? Like true, number 1 receivers right now." (2)
"Not like, it doesn’t seem like there is like there used to be. But, again, it’s another position that we’re always trying to figure out. And it’s a really unique position. Because, like we finish our meetings with the receivers." (3)

Do the #Seahawks have a clearer idea of the type of player in their defensive front?

John Schneider: "Yeah, great question. We went through this with Dom Capers when I was with Coach McCarthy like two years, two or three years before I came to Seattle." (1)
"And it took us about 2 good years to be able to say ‘Hey, you know these are your 4 edge rushers, these are your 7 defensive linemen, and then how do you help your special teams?’ Yeah, it’s definitely a balance, especially when you’ve been an even front team for how long" (2)
Credit @CorbinSmithNFL for the question. And sorry you had to see that last sentence @cmikesspinmove, I am calming.

The officiating was bad but I really don’t want that to get in the way of the serious discussion that needs to take place regarding the #Seahawks offense. Yes, key player Tyler Lockett was absent. But a lot of Russell Wilson and the attacks’ ‘20 issues remain highly present
Like they spammed their quick game, near-the-numbers zone beaters. Then had a double move off that once it got clamped. And then what?! People have to accept the limitations the QB’s skillset imposes on the Offense. We have been seeing this for a while. Defenses are getting it.
Throw stick-dig and intermediate stuff or die.

3rd and long is a disaster against this Rams team. And Russell Wilson basically sacked himself there, dipped his eyes early to the rush despite the pass protection picking the pressure game up with the crosser coming open over the middle.
How about moving in the pocket like a normal quarterback?
Here’s where the ball maybe goes

WR Cody Thompson is another #Seahawks preseason performer who will get his chance off the practice squad tonight. He’s intriguing as a big for Russell Wilson to hit in the intermediate over the middle windows, backside dig etc. Little tape thread coming too
