Exclusive by @anbajassim: Last week's raid in Qah N Idlib killed a senior Daesh leader Abu Sara Al-Iraqi, head of the Distant Wilayas Bureau formerly known as Delegated Comm اللجنة المفوضة. In 2020, @anbajassim broke the story on killing of Abu Muhammad Al-Masri in Tehran.
Feb 24, it was reported a coalition raid targeted 2 on a motorbike on the Qah road N Idlib. None of the activists in the area could tell who the target was. They said he was Iraqi known as Abu Ubada or Abu Ubaida. However, none could determine which faction he belonged to.
Some mentioned he was an HAD, others Ansar Eddin. HTS cordoned off the area & apprehended journalists covering the story. Was reported HTS made journalists discard their footage. A photo of a man killed was published.
@anbajassim publishes a photo of Abu Sara that looks similar to the one published by activists in N Syria.
According to anti-Daesh insiders قناة فضح عباد البغدادي والهاشمي have reported that Ali Jasim Salman Al-Juburi علي جاسم سلمان الجبوري aka أبو سارة aka كفوش aka عبدالرؤوف المهاجر is the de facto leader of Daesh.
Over the past 2 weeks, Daesh leadership has been depleted in Wilayat Sham, the de facto central of Daesh. @CENTCOM said they apprehended Battar, & killed Ibrahim Al-Qahtani & Hamza Al-Humsi, the general admin of WS.
Last Thursday's edition of Nabaa denied Humsi was a senior which drew attention to the status of the man. Sources tell us Nabaa wanted to hide his identity by lying to their troops. قناة فضح عباد البغدادي والهاشمي reported something similar.
Another "senior" Daesh commander was taken out lately. قناة فضح عباد البغدادي والهاشمي reported this week on killing of an Abu Khadijah أبو خديجة Wali of Iraq. His real name is عبدالله مكي مصلح مهدي الرفيعي. The anti-Daesh insider published photos of the man.

Excellent work by @SimNasr. He put 17 meaty Qs to AQIM leader Abu Ubaida Al-Innabi. The 38 mnt video includes audios of Innabi responding. Subtitles in English available. Innabi said very little, however, the gist's in what he didn’t say.
One major takeaway regards Olivier Dubois, the French journalist kidnapped by JNIM Apr 2021. Innabi clearly wanted to communicate that the French gov IS responsible for a) kidnapping of Olivier b) the fate of Olivier.
He made sure to address this issue to Olivier’s “family”. He denied Olivier was lead into a trap or that a JNIM commander, AlBakkai, was responsible.
Probably the most significant AQAP release in a while. New video from Al-Malahem features Sa'd Bin 'Atif Al-'Awake سعد بن عاطف العولقي reaching out sunni tribes in Shawa & Abyan. I don't recall I saw Sa'd in a video. He had two audios though in 2015 & 2016.
Here are some thoughts: 1) It’s a desperate attempt to show solidarity between Sa’d & AQAP emir Khalid Batarfi. Differences between the two men have deepened as early as last year over influence & resources. @akhbar’s @asem been reporting on this. bit.ly/3In1H74
In this 11 min video, Sa’d subtly praises Khalid as “our commander.” A 1:24 min clip of Khalid sitting next to Sa’d is inserted. What matters are the optics. The video ends with 12 seconds of what looks like Sa’d being invited to join Khalid for the photo op.
Just released. An 8 minute video featuring a 4 minute speech by Zawahiri on "how to support the Palestinian cause." There is no single mention of any particular event that might be considered as a proof of life. There is nothing new in the video.
He says Israel wants to set up a state from the Nile to the Euphrates; Arab regimes won't liberate Palestine; calls on Muslims especially neighboring Palestine to challenge Israel. He specifically mentions sale of Palestinian lands.
There is no mention of "حفظه الله" anywhere in the vide.
Al-Qaeda fanboys have published a photo of one Faisal Al-Khalidi aka Hamza Al-Khalidi aka Mubashir. فيصل الخالدي أو حمزة الخالدي أو مبشر. IF IT'S THE SAME PERSON, then he's none other than a high ranking Iran official residing in Iran
IF IT IS THE SAME PRSON, then he was designated on the US Treasury sanctions in 2016 for financing AQ & TTP. counterextremism.com/extremists/fai…
This comes within an arbitrary campaign by AQ fans to support AQA in an attempt to whitewash accusations of mismanagement within AQAP leading to dissension & Houthi collaboration. A series of images of fighters were released as well.
Al-Qaeda's Shabab are feeling the heat from the Saturday bombing in Mogadishu. Ironically, while Shabab were massacring Somalis near MoE, elsewhere they were holding a so-called Wilayat conference of Muslim Scholars. In a closing stat., Mahad Karate bit.ly/3NpNw22
(Abu Abd Al-Rahman Mahad Wurasme), Shabab's 2nd in command issued a statement, the 2nd by Shabab since the bombing, in an attempt to justify the killing. He basically explains what was published in the official statement. Here’ a recap of what he said:
- He tries hard to vilify and demonize the ministry of education saying the “recruit” mercenaries to fight against them.
-He puts the death toll at 69 exactly saying they are ALL “ministry employees, officers and various forces of the murtad gov such as guards and auxiliaries.”
Starts with praise of ISIS (Stay دولة) and how they fought towards towhead, enforced حدود in the areas they controlled, work towards such end in areas they don't control.
Praises prison breaks in Nigeria (July) and Congo (August) as execution of ISIS leadership directives.
Praises provinces of West and Central Africa.
Calls on freed prisoners who oppose ISIS to "return to righteousness" and join them.
