Google's new music model MusicLM is the breakthrough of the week.

Here it is in action.

Just describe the music and it'll generate the track:
You can also give it:

- a genre
- an instrument
- a time period
- an IMAGE(??)

And it'll spit out music.
Quality feels better than Riffusion, and the stats back it up.

MusicLM beats Riffusion 75% of the time. Image

Last night, @eladgil had a fireside chat with @reidhoffman about AI.

Here are some notes on Reid's thoughts about
- AI industry structure
- AI safety
- Job displacement
- AGI
You can watch the full talk here:
There will be two trends of models.
1. Scaled compute - Expensive models where an +20% performance can actually be worth the cost
2. Highly tuned, compact compute - Tuned with specific data. Some will be open-source.

Unclear which trend great companies will come from.

Some Reflections on Negotiation

I just had my biggest outcome yet from an offer negotiation.

+80% increase in equity! AND cash increase AND title increase

My reflections on the process:
Warning!

I am not an expert!

These reflections are not groundbreaking!

This is not your how-to guide!

Check out this blog post by @hosseeb for something closer: haseebq.com/my-ten-rules-f…
TLDR summary:

- Negotiating is important. Practice.
- It's not personal.
- Know what you care about.
- Have options.
- Get information.
- Be strong.
- But wear your hats carefully.
