1/5
We upgraded the AI Model from Davinci to the new ChatGPT API. This led to a 40% increase in output speed and improved the quality of long-form output. Whereas Embra was previously tuned for shorter, quick responses, we now have speedy multi-paragraph responses.
2/5
Multi-tasking? Embra now comes with threads!
- Create a new thread with Command + N
- Search & navigate threads using the "/" command.
Threads also let us improve Embra’s memory in more substantial ways.
3/5
Our users like to rapidly search for information, but AIs such as ChatGPT, Bing, and Embra sometimes... stretch the truth.
With Embra, you can now hover over google search results to instantly preview the site! No more cluttered tabs.

More:
- Support for Arc, Brave & Edge browsers.
- Vote on messages to improve Embra over time.
- Real-time connection reliability.
- Chat no longer clears when you leave Embra and come back.
- Users can now pay $24/mo to skip the long waitlist!
Introducing Embra, a fast ChatGPT-like assistant that lives on your Mac desktop & integrates into your apps! Starting with Chrome.
Use it to:

- Query documents or websites (even PDFs!)
- Write context-rich docs, code, and emails

Writing great emails requires context.
With Embra, fast replies are a single click - context automatically included. Or brainstorm first and then generate an in-depth email. Minutes -> seconds.
External info from other tabs can also be included with a simple @ mention.

Google Docs, Notion, PDFs, Jira — docs & tickets are scattered! Embra, with its OS-level integration, can help you read, analyze, brainstorm, and write *everywhere*.
Embra optionally guides conversation for you, unlocking speedy back-and-forth Q&A without the need to type.
AI, in particular, leads the way. I think a "Great Pivot" is underway in startup ecosystem -- every founder & board room is now discussing AI strategy as existential.

For the last 10 years it has felt like AI was growing linearly. Now, most tech veterans I know believe it has become exponential.
It is unlikely to slow down and be a "spike". It is likely to speed up even further. Hold on to your hats.

ChatGPT, StableDiffusion, and Tesla FSD are impressive *today*. They can meaningfully accelerate writing, creation & driving tasks.
In the next 3 years, acceleration will become replacement. Jobs destroyed by recession may not come back.
After traveling for months, here are 10 things underrated about America.
A thread:
1) A racially mixed society at its core. Anyone can become an American.
Ethnic homogeneity is still the norm in most countries.
America is forging through the hard path over time. Bring together very different people and over time they'll figure out a better system.
2) America reinvents itself at a rapid pace.
This is what some Europeans told us most exemplifies the US.
Consumer trends change fast. Tech changes fast. Cultural battles suck but do create change. Long-term in the US is a decade whereas in other countries it can be centuries.
80 million Americans now spend 20% of their free time scrolling through an algorithmic content experience owned by the Chinese Government.
This scandal has uncovered lie after lie over the past years.
Here is a quick timeline 👇
1/5
Oct 2019: TikTok promised lawmakers they’d follow data locality guidelines and keep US data local.
Dec 2019: They lied — instead they were caught sending mass data back to Chinese servers.
When caught, they admitted it and entered frivolous "negotiations" [0].
2/5
July 2020: TikTok said the data would not be abused in China, and was highly restricted. Data collection continued for years.
June, 2022: They lied, as whistleblowers leaked proof showing many Chinese employees had unfettered access to American data.
