THE ULTIMATE @Tesla CyberTruck TERA THREAD :

I learned a ton of previously unknown info on the #CyberTruck during the executive Meet & Greet before and after #investorDay.

🧵
My CyberTruck YouTube video premiering now covers dimensions, variants, tires, 48v architect, options, and info on a secret internal Tesla CyberTruck Accessories Team! Please follow me and subscribe to my YouTube channel to never miss twitter.com/i/web/status/1…
I know trucks! I’ve owned 6 F-150s including a handful of Raptors. I worked at a Ford Dealership through college. I drive my trucks in the snow, on gravel and dirt roads, I tow boats and trailers. So I compare the CyberTruck to the F-150, America’s best selling vehicle.

Shoutout… twitter.com/i/web/status/1…
The vehicle on display at #InvestorDay is a CyberTruck Pre-Production Beta, meaning if the truck was released today, it would be configured like this. Tesla is never “pencils down” so I expect to see changes in the release candidates and later the production units
EXCLUSIVE: CyberTruck Dimensions: it's just a little smaller than a Ford F-150 Raptor; about 1.5” shorter and 2.5” narrower, but has a ~6” longer bed thanks to the shorter hood.
Tesla staff told me the Pre-Production #CyberTruck is about 5% smaller than the prototype unveiled in 2019. The CyberTruck seems ever so slightly smaller than an F-150 Raptor, but with more usable space.
The CyberTruck hood opens like a Model X. The front bumper/grill area does not open like in the F-150 Lighting. Which Is I think the only thing I prefer about the Lightning to the CyberTruck.
There will be two CyberTruck variants: a Dual Motor and what I’m going to call a Performance (I don’t know the official name). Initially @Tesla announced the top trim would be a Tri-Motor, but in December 2021, @ElonMusk said initial variant would be a Quad-Motor.… twitter.com/i/web/status/1…
However, after discussions with staff, I believe Tesla is reverting back to the Tri-Motor powertrain for the CyberTruck like a Model S/X Plaid. There will be no single-motor.
EXCLUSIVE: All CyberTruck variants will have rear-wheel steering standard. The componentry for the rear-wheel-steering is between the wheel house and the cab. That is why there is no open space past the wheel house like in a traditional truck.
- There does not appear appear to be storage compartments in the CyberTruck sails anymore, but staff would not comment on this.
- All CyberTruck variants will have 5 seats. Due to the beta being 5% smaller than the prototype, Tesla removed the front row center seat.
- The CyberTruck will have Tesla’s biggest display ever at 18.5” (Model S & X have 17”).
- No gauge cluster display, no heads up display
- 2nd row console screen like Model S & X
The CyberTruck steering wheel has round sides with a flat top/bottom, kind of a combo of the Yoke and a Round wheel. There will be no steering wheel options like in the Model S & X.
The CyberTruck Windshield light bar will make it to production and contain amber wide width lights like the @Tesla Semi.
Air-suspension standard. They have tested it for Baja style terrain/racing. I asked if they have jumped it and staff said they have tested it fully and have no fear it won’t hold up.
Sandy Munro told me the Air Suspension cylinders are the biggest he’s ever seen, they are bigger than the ones available on Ram Trucks.
The CyberTruck will have 18” wheels with multiple rim and tire packages including All-Terrain ties and street All-Season tires. The A/T tire size is 285/65/R18 or 35”x 11.25” R18. (I would not be surprised if the All Season street tires come with larger rims)
Goodyear is the CyberTruck tire manufacture of the pictured All-Terrain tire. Going by the cost of Goodyear’s other A/T tires, we can budget for a $385/ea tire price.
The CyberTryck doors are NOT self presenting like the Model X. There are release buttons on the B and C pillars that pop out the doors.
The CyberTruck is Tesla’s first vehicle to use 48v architecture. This means high gauge wiring (lighter/cheaper), a smaller accessories battery and more power.
EXCLUSIVE: There is a secret CyberTruck Accessories team! I asked if @Tesla is working with aftermarket companies to build compatible 48v accessories like winches, offroad lights, etc. I was told Tesla have an in house team creating accessories!
- This gem struck me as a move Apple would make: creating high quality, huge margin accessories ($59 plastic iPhone case, $99 braided loop Watch Band).
- The accessories team is designing products for multiple customer personas: offroading, camping, baja racing.
CyberTruck Bumpers and sideskirts are plastic, 5mph impact compliant, not steel like prototype. I asked if they are easily removed so owners could install aftermarket steel bumpers and I was told “you won’t have to go aftermarket.”
I asked staff: “considering trucks like the Rivian, Hummer EV, Lightning and Raptor, what’s one feature you wish was on the #CyberTruck?” and received “Nothing! We’ve benchmarked all of those trucks.”
Staff would not confirm, but I believe the #CyberTruck bed is watertight, has drain plugs, and will be able to float like @elonmusk has teased #CyberBoat

I'll answer all the questions I can in the comments below and on YouTube
THINGS I FORGOT:
- CONFIRMED: there will be no passthrough from the bed to the cabin. I believe the rear window does go down.
- In the video, I speculate on weight, price, and range.
CORRECTION: the A/T tires are 285/75/r18. I’m 100% certain they are 35” and I was told specifically the width is 285mm.
