Alright, let's talk more in depth about Yang's interaction with her younger self because there is genuinely SO MUCH to it, that I'm losing my mind.
There is this interesting choice of words with "go forward" and "go back"
Yang's never->
been someone to go back. Just like she said, she's someone who's always gone with the flow. And the flow never goes backwards, it always moves forward.
But this is her younger self speaking. The same person who already had doubts about how far she can truly go this way.
The->
Yang from right now already knows the answer to "But how long can I really do that for?" Because the answer is up until the point she lost her arm.
This younger self was a manifestation which prayed on that. On the fact that going with the flow wasn't a choice anymore.
But->
things were much simpler back then, weren't they? So that's what's ultimately being offered here. A ticket back to the simpler times when she could keep going with the flow.
Back to before she lost her arm and had to learn to be cautious of her every move. Back to when->
Yang Xiao Long was Yang Xiao Long. The quirky brawler with not a worry in the world. The one whose heart wasn't broken by the consequences of the flow. The one who was "whole".
But...our Yang instantly refuses. Because it's an easy thing to refuse, really.
She's broken,->
she's suffered more than most ever did, but that doesn't mean she isn't whole. On the contrary, that's what makes her be whole.
The Yang Xiao Long who got beaten down again and again, and who stood back up no matter what, is the Huntress that's standing there.
And if she ever->
feels like she lost a piece of herself, well...that piece isn't lost, it's just missing. Waiting somewhere, some time, out there to be found.
And the best testimony for this is exactly Yang's arc with her arm. Just like she told Tai, this IS the new normal for her. But back->
then she needed time to adjust. And she did. Now she's confident in it, and the only way she got to this point is exactly that. She kept going. Never going back, always moving forward
And all of that? Well, all of that is what makes her Yang Xiao Long
The sunny little dragon.->
A sister. A friend. A partner. And of course...
A Huntress.
She's already whole.

To all the people who are upset that "I make everything about Yang", look around at the way the fandom treats her character.
I did not make Ruby's breakdown be about Yang, people had to make it be about Yang being a bad sister.
I simply responded
Yes, I do talk mainly about Yang, but that's because there isn't a day in this fandom when someone doesn't talk shit about her, and I don't see it on my tl.
When people stop mischaracterizing her and making her out to be the worst human being possible, then I will stop->
"making everything about Yang"
But until then, yes, instead of replying to people with bad faith, I will make threads only on her to show my love and appreciation to her when all y'all do is treat her like shit👍
I want to talk a little about this scene in particular because for me, this is still one of the most heartbreaking scenes in the entire show even after all this time.
For the longest time when I rewatched Volume 5 I had to skip past it because it genuinely hurt too->
much to watch. Let me explain why.
The scene in itself, along with the context, is obviously sad.
This is someone who just got abandoned by her own mother again, just so she can grab a relic that would put a target on her back from the most powerful being on Remnant.
But->
what truly made this scene for me be in particular so incredibly heartbreaking is...the framing and direction of this specific shot.
It's genius, really, to direct it the way they did, but I also need them to pay my therapy bills because it was unfair.

Ruby is still dealing with her trauma and PTSD, and considering how we've been told this is just the start, I don't think these issues will be fully resolved this Volume.
We can't just let her end up in a miserable state🥹
