Jeremy Hunt's Budget - and what it means for you

The Chancellor announced a raft of policies today, from scrapping the lifetime pension allowance to an expansion of free childcare

Pensions⬇️

The biggest surprise of the day was the scrapping of the lifetime pension allowance

It was thought the £1.07million limit would be hiked to £1.8million but Hunt had wrongfooted all of us and instead, decided to axe it completely

Energy⬇️

After listening to a host of charities and experts including @MartinSLewis, the chancellor announced the Energy Price Guarantee would remain at £2,500 for next three months – an announcement that had already been anticipated

Prepayment meters⬇️

Households on energy prepayment meters will have their charges brought into line with direct debit charges charges

Pubs⬇️

A pint will become 11p cheaper but a glass of wine will cost 45p more from August

It is the biggest duty increase for wine in 50 years.

Motorists ⬇️

The fuel duty has been frozen, as it was widely expected to be

As inflation remains high Hunt said now is not the right time to uprate fuel duty with inflation
Childcare ⬇️

The Government will announce 30 hours of free childcare for every child over the age of nine months

This applies to households where parents are both working at least 16 hours
