#saukatsu pregnant Omi part 13
“Are you a v league player too?”
“The same team?”
“What position do you play?”
“How long have you been playing professionally?”
“How old are you?”
“Did you ever go to nationals in high school?”
The rapid fire questions are slightly overwhelming but volleyball is something that Atsumu can talk about all day.
“Yeah, I went to nationals every year,” he says.
“Wait, if you’re from Hyogo, did you go to Inarizaki?” Kiyoomi’s mother asks suddenly.
“Sure did.”
“Then you’re the team Kiyoomi and his team crushed to win nationals in his second year,” she says.
“I wouldn’t say crushed…”
“We beat you in four sets,” Kiyoomi chimes in.
“Fine, but we won spring nationals my third year when yer team couldn’t rely on Iizuna to set for ya.”
“We still beat Karasuno, that team that knocked you out in the second round our second year.”
“Who we then beat in our third year! They were a tricky team!”
Kiyoomi shrugs.
“For you maybe, we never lost to them.”
Atsumu wants to throw his napkin at Kiyoomi, and would have if his—
—parents hadn’t been there.
Kiyoomi’s father snorts, though, and Atsumu realised that this is as close to a laugh as he’s going to get from the guy.
“And where do you live, Atsumu-san?” Kiyoomis mother asks, firmly putting them back on track for the interrogation.
“Uh, in the—
—MSBY share house.”
Generally Atsumu feels like his decision to rent with his job is a good idea; he saves money, it’s close to his work, and he gets to bother his teammates.
But right now, talking to the parents of his… baby mama? saying that makes him feel like a loser.
However, the repulsed and disgusted looks he was expecting don’t materialise. Instead Kiyoomi’s parents focus their attention on their son.
“Sweetheart, please tell me you aren’t still in the dorm.”
“You can’t raise a child in a dorm room. And even if you had the space you’d—
—ruin your relationship with your teammates from the child’s crying.”
“You know that your aunt has a few two and three bedroom apartments in Osaka, and she’d be happy to rent one to you at a reduced rate.”
Kiyoomi wilts in his seat.
“I’ve been looking at apartments…” he mumbles.
“Just you?” His mother pries.
Oh.
Uhoh.
They hadn’t discussed anything about living arrangements, present or future, so Atsumu has no idea how to answer this question and it doesn’t look like Kiyoomi does either.
“It’s complicated,” kiyoomi says, in what has to be the least convincing way to end the conversation.
“You’ll want help when the baby arrives, even if the two of you don’t live together—”
“I’m going to start interviewing nannies!”
“You don’t want your baby’s father to be close—
—and bond with them too? That only happens if they take a caretaker role.”
Kiyoomi looks like he wants to bang his head into the table.
“You do want to be involved, don’t you, Atsumu-san?” Kiyoomi’s father presses.
Now that is a question Atsumu can answer with confidence.
“Yeah, of course. ‘M lookin’ forward to bein’ a dad, I just don’t wanna step on Omi’s toes. He’s gotta carry and deliver the kid.”
Atsumu hasn’t told his own mother yet, but he’s fully aware of the slipper to the head he’d get if he tried to impose on the mother of his child.
“Well, if the two of you aren’t ready to move in together, you should take a three bedroom and Atsumu can have his own room at the apartment.”
Kiyoomi looks like he wants to argue, but Atsumu can see the fight leave him.
Once Kiyoomi acquiesces to his parents demands, they seem—
—content to move on to other topics.
Since the two of them are staying in Tokyo for the night, Kiyoomi’s parents somehow persuade them to attend some party that a cousin is throwing over lunch the next day.
Then they’re strong armed into going back to the Sakusas’ home so that—
—kiyoomi can look at his aunt’s apartments and show his mother his plans for the birth announcement.
Atsumu is left in an unreasonably extravagant lounge with Kiyoomi’s father.
“Atsumu?” Kiyoomi’s father asks, holding out an ornate metal tin. Inside are some classy looking cigars. “I know you’re an athlete but one celebratory cigar won’t hurt, surely?”
Atsumu feels compelled to take one and then he’s herded out onto a balcony.
“This is my first—
—grandchild,” he says to Atsumu. “I wasn’t sure we’d get any, Kiyoomi’s older siblings are married to their jobs. I thought he’d be the same way.”
Atsumu nods, although he’s heard very little about Kiyoomi’s brother and sister.
“Omi wants ta be a parent, so he’ll find a way ta—
—be the best one possible.”
What Kiyoomi wants, Kiyoomi gets. That’s something that Atsumu has always known, the guy puts his everything into his goals.
Itachiyama’s banner had said ‘Effort’ after all.
“He seems to have picked a good partner too.”
Atsumu somehow chokes on the cigar smoke in his mouth.
“Yeah?” He says after he regains his composure.
“I sense Kiyoomi might not have noticed, but I see the way you look at him.” Kiyoomi’s father is looking at Atsumu in a way that—
—makes his feel uncomfortably perceived. “I know when an alpha is in love, after all.”
“Yeah, well,” Atsumu takes another cigar puff to buy himself some time to think. “Omi’s pretty amazin’, wouldn’t find a guy like him anywhere else.”
Kiyoomi’s father regards him in a way that makes Atsumu want to jump of the balcony.
He takes another puff and decides that cigars exist to fill awkward silences.
“I’m glad Kiyoomi found you.”
That was not what Atsumu had been expecting to hear.
“You’re much better than the—
—previous guy. I’d thought Kiyoomi had sworn off relationships after him.”
“The previous guy?” Atsumu can’t help but ask. Kiyoomi is a private person and the possibility of knowing some of his secrets is irresistible.
Also Atsumu feels primally compelled to compare himself to—
—this other, mysterious, alpha so that he’s sure he’s a better mate for Kiyoomi.
Even if Kiyoomi isn’t really looking for a mate at all.
His father is right; he has sworn off relationships, he just wanted Atsumu’s jizz.
“Saito? Or Sato? Something like that, I can’t remember.—
—But he was some finance student at Kiyoomi’s university and wanted a housewife. You can imagine how well that went.”
Atsumu laughs. Because while Kiyoomi definitely keeps his space clean, the idea of him giving up volleyball for anything is ridiculous.
Even the baby he schemed—
—for is carefully worked around the V League schedule.
“They only broke up because he threw out Kiyoomi’s offer from the Adlers.”
“What.”
“He missed his opportunity to accept so he took the Black Jackals instead.”
Atsumu doesn’t know whether he wants to punch this guy or kiss—
—him.
Atsumu is enraged that anyone would try to take volleyball away from Omi but at the same time…
If that prick hadn’t fumbled his relationship with Kiyoomi, Atsumu wouldn’t have got to play with him. Or sleep with. Or have a baby with.
“‘M glad that guy’s gone.”
That’s an understatement but Atsumu thinks he probably shouldn’t swear in front of Kiyoomi’s father.
“Me too.”
“‘M not sure Omi’s all that keen on me though,” Atsumu blurts out. He does need to temper expectations for when the two of them ‘break up’.

#sakuatsu pregnant Omi part 24 (final part!)

Kiyoomi opens his eyes and blinks groggily at the hospital ceiling. He's dazed and confused and he can't move his lower body. It's too bright in here and everything feels wrong, like he's hungover or something.
There's still a haze--
--around his mind, but he is slowly becoming aware that he's not alone in the room.
It takes an inordinate amount of effort to turn his head to one side to see Atsumu in the uncomfortable-looking chair by his bed.
"You look awful," Kiyoomi says, the words tumbling out of his--
--mouth before he can stop himself. Because Atsumu really does look like hell: dark circles under his eyes and he's been gnawing at his lips.
He laughs, though.
"Nothin' stops ya, does it Omi-kun?"
"What... what happened?" Kiyoomi remembers being bitten during Atsumu's rut.

#sakuatsu pregnant Omi part 23 (CW: blood)

They're able to squeeze in a JNT meeting before Kiyoomi's induction. Hibarida had offered to allow him to join virtually, but since Kiyoomi's been staring at the apartment walls for weeks now and he's able to rent a wheelchair, he--
--makes Atsumu wheel him around to attend in person.
To his surprise, he's not the only pregnant member.
"Lev, fuck off," Yaku, brandishing an iced coffee, shouts as an attractive alpha tries to pull a chair out for him. "I can do it myself!"
"Yak-san, you're supposed to rest--
-- and not have caffeine!"
"That's a myth!" Yaku takes a long suck of his coffee, the ice rattling around at the bottom as he finishes it.
Kiyoomi looks at Atsumu and considers that they might not have have most explosive relationship at the table.

The meeting concludes with--

#sakuatsu pregnant Omi Part 22

"I've called your landlord, the insurance company, and my cousin who's a solicitor and while you definitely could take the landlord to court in small claims. Unfortunately, it would probably cost just as much to do that as it would to just pay for-
--the lost stock items anyway."
Osamu deflates in Kiyoomi's armchair. It's not the good news that Kiyoomi was hoping to give.
"It would probably be the most viable to break the lease on the current property and move to a different storefront."
"Yeah... just wish I could afford--
--that, y'know?" Osamu sighs. "There's a penalty for leaving' before the current lease's up..."
"I could almost certainly negotiate that going away in exchange for not taking your landlord to court."
"Not sure I can come up with the cash for a new place while still eatin' my--

#sakuatsu pregnant Omi part 21

Atsumu comes home after his post match shower and interviews. He looks sheepish, likely from reading the text that Kiyoomi had sent him regarding his on-court behaviour, but any lecturing Kiyoomi had planned to do vaporises at Atsumu's scent.
He's freshly washed, but there's the slightest hint of sweat from his climb up their building's stairs (he refuses to use the lift for bullshit pride reasons), and it's driving Kiyoomi absolutely feral.
"Wha--?"
Atsumu doesn't manage to get a full word out before he's being--
--shoved against the door and kissed aggressively.
He's clearly confused, and honestly Kiyoomi is too. He has no idea why Atsumu does this to him and it can't all be pregnancy hormones.
Whatever. That's a conundrum for when Kiyoomi isn't this rabidly horny.
"Omi?" Atsumu asks--

"I won't be able to come out with the team while you're here I'm afraid, Tsukasa-kun," Kiyoomi says regretfully, and Iizuna nods on his laptop screen. "But you are very welcome to come to my new apartment at any time while you're in Osaka--
--although I won't be able to leave bed or the sofa."
"I would like to make time to see you," Iizuna confirms. "Is there anything I can bring for you?"

Usually when the Hornets play the Jackals Kiyoomi likes to have a quiet dinner with his old senpai to catch up, but now that--
--he's confined to bed, they're going to have to make new plans. Not least because Atsumu has moved his stuff into the spare room so now every meal time has the Miya flare and Miya volume.
Also because ever since Kiyoomi announced his pregnancy to his teammates, they've made a--

Kiyoomi is bored. So, so bored.
He's been lying in bed, as per doctor's orders, for a week now and he's watched every volleyball match that's been shown on TV and that he has in his collection.
He's read every pregnancy and in fact care book his--
--mother has sent him twice. He sent out his baby announcement and fielded all the questions from family.
And he is so, so bored.
He wants to go for a run. He wants to do spiking practice. He wants to swim or do yoga, anything that isn't the monotony of lying down all day--
--broken only by short trips to the bathroom.
He'd even take the excruciating trip
from the hospital in Nagoya back home with Atsumu and his mother again instead of this.
Kiyoomi had pretended to sleep in the backseat for most of it while his character was assassinated by--
