I've watched hundreds of hours of legislation, and this was by far the dirtiest I have seen Republicans play. They did not want to face down Democrats or people affected by the bill.
We only knew about it because of Olivia Krauth's amazing reporting.
One provision in the bill - we literally only have paper phone camera photos for the bill - tells doctors they are to "systematically reduce hormones" for the trans youth under their care.
A forced detransition provision.
That's not all this bill does, though.
It is a Don't Say Gay bill, a parental notification bill, bans pronouns, bans trans youth in bathrooms, removes care, forces detransition, calls trans kids in locker rooms "unsafe" for others, and more.
They literally took a look at all of the anti-trans bills moving in the country, said "yes," and threw them all in one mixing pot.
Testimony agains tthe bill was strong.
Rep Stevenson stated, "God said LOVE everybody and yet we spend the whole time trying to destroy everybody. And if it wasn't destruction, why did you do it in the heat of the night? How dare you?"
If you are in Kentucky, we hear you and are fighting for you. We will fight in court, fight in legislatures, and one day, we'll be the ones in charge and will banish this bigotry to the halls of history.
One thing I will note though... there may be a way for doctors in here to continue providing care to their trans youth.
It does not say the pace in which hormones must be "systematically reduced."
So doctors could "systematically reduce" them by as low a margin as possible.
This would be of no solace of course to people who have not started care.

It's a lie and deception. It's based off of decades old research, criteria no longer in place, relies on conversion therapy, and is contradicted by recent research.
You can see the claims pop up on Fox news, in legislative findings, every hearing has at least a half dozen proponents that say it, this claim is EVERYWHERE. See:
The old criteria that these claims are based on literally do not require you to identify as "the other sex" in order to be diagnosed with "gender identity disorder," a "disorder" diagnosis that no longer even exists.
Lmao, Andy Ngo literally uses a picture from my 2nd day of transition in attempting to "blast" me for accurately pointing out Charlie Kirk's clear threat of violence in saying that men should "take care" of trans people "like in the 50s and 60s."
It was rushed after being announced DURING LUNCH, with the mics off. Democrats are furious and the bill is only available thanks to @oliviakrauth taking phone pictures.
It tells docs how to detransition kids.

Georgia has rushed SB140 to the floor, a bill that will ban gender affirming care for trans youth. They've rushed this through committee and to the floor. This bill would make Georgia the 9th state to ban gender affirming care for trans youth should it pass.

The last 24 hours, I've been contacted by dozens of Eden's friends. She was a trans woman who was forcibly detransitioned and trafficked out of the US, and then took her life.
She deserves justice. Her story must be investigated.
I have spoken with many of Eden's friends. I have also spoken with others with knowledge of Eden's case.
It is my hope that journalists and investigators seriously look into the circumstances surrounding her case and we ensure that this never happens again.
We must extend full asylum to transgender refugees in the United States and protect them from trafficking.
We must hold people responsible for cases like hers accountable.
And we must realize that this doesn't just occur in foreign countries. It occurs here in the US too.
