Here’s a technique I’ve occasionally used to make palettes more varied and colors feel more natural. Originally it involved drawing each shape twice at half opacity, assigning a randomized color from the palette each time.
In this manner we may start with a five-color palette and generate a more varied and complete spectrum. The five colors comprising the palette are in the upper right corner at full and half opacity. Beneath that, the colors resulting from all possible pairings are shown.
The system on the left is called Glass Manifest and is based on hexagonal Truchet tiles. It was one of my first works to utilize this approach to color. It was also the first work I minted and was collected by @gen0xNFT in early 2021.
Now that I have a better understanding, I intend to re-implement this concept, calculating the interpolated colors directly and making the second layer of shapes unnecessary. Below a single hexagonal Truchet tile is shown.
Another system that uses this technique is Linkage. This was a set of three works exploring packing and connectivity at different scales. The series was collected by @ACthecollector.
Hope everyone has a nice weekend!

Coalesce is coming to SuperRare Friday, July 1st. It’s a collection based on circle packing and simplex noise. What began as a response to a Genuary prompt slowly developed into a larger concept. This project is the culmination of several months’ efforts.
The collection is divided into styles or sets, consisting of five pieces each. They're set apart by the combination of constraints used to place the circles, giving rise to different forms. Coalesce is the name of the collection as well as the first series in the collection.
The four styles are Coalesce, Multifield, Colorshift, and Lens. A new style will be released each Friday. Additional styles may be added in the future, but no further works will be added to the current sets.
