Many prominent players in the "productivity & Tools for Thought" corner of Twitter are part of the Action-Powered Productivity community!
If you don't have some way to track goals, priority areas, and core values, your productivity system will be garbage in, garbage out. You might WORK a lot, but it won't be the RIGHT work.
Here's how I built my Vision subsystem in @tana_inc, from diagram to deployment...
1. This is the Practical Diagram of my Vision subsystem—what I need it to DO.
✅ Define Intentions both long-term and short-term
✅ Convert Intentions into Action
✅ Allow Identity to affect both big-picture and moment-to-moment decisions
2. This is the Functional Diagram of my Vision subsystem—the components and how they relate.
It shows all the levels of Intention and how those plug into my Task Management Hub, and draws a clear path of entities and relationships from Identity to Action.
Tana's power makes it both amazing AND mindbending
Because live queries allow data to be directly entered into them, there's an overlap of input & output that is exceptionally useful but also tricky to set up
That's why I use @obsdmd's new Canvas feature to map ideas first!
Here's the process, roughly:
1. Recognize there is work I want to track and execute more efficiently
2. Map what that "subsystem" looks like using Obsidian Canvas. What are the entities? What information do those entities need to contain? How do they relate to each other?
Comprehensive task management in Tana, in a simple, easy-to-understand course.
Modules 1 - 3 at launch, more coming throughout November (and beyond!)
And a bit of exciting news if you're NOT in @tana_inc yet...
If you buy Tana for Tasks, you will get an invite to Tana! 🎉🎉🎉
🚨 IMPORTANT: Invites won't be available for a few days, so feel free to wait if you want (the $97 intro price won't go away yet). I should have invites by Monday, 11/7.
Tana for Tasks also includes a community (via Circle) for sharing insights and asking questions, as well as live office hours from time to time.
It's been my "daily driver" for over a month now, and even in Early Access, Tana has enabled task workflows that exceed anything I've found anywhere else.
If you're waiting for an invite...
It's worth it!
(and no I don't currently have any 😊)
To elaborate:
Tana provides a bridge between "bottom-up" and "top-down" that no other app has achieved.
Imagine the ease of Roam at the bottom and the structure of Notion at the top—that's what Tana can do.
Fields and searches make it possible (and they're easy to use!)
I'm so delighted to have friends like @houshuang and @RobertHaisfield working on Tana, because I know Tana's future will be 🤯!
