5 of the most important headlines in AI this week:

1/ GPT-4 is released and it's bigger & better than ChatGPT 🤯

It's a multimodal model that responds to text & images.

Microsoft, Stripe, & more are already using it. Image
2/ Google releases new AI tools for Gmail, Docs, Sheets.

You can create instant summaries, prepare time-saving drafts, AI-generated presentations, note capture, & auto-fill.

If you're prone to people pleasing, read this:
Saying "No" is hard.

We are wired to conform and people please—saying "No" runs counter to these innate human behaviours.

When we say "No" to someone, we are implicitly rejecting them, their idea, or request.

That's not a fun or easy thing to do, and often very awkward.
However, when we don't say "No" we risk giving away our most precious resource—time.

The solution is saying "No" in a graceful way that avoids awkward rejection.

Saying "No" and living more on your terms is one of the greatest gifts you can give yourself.

Here's how:

If you want to win an argument, don't make these mistakes:
First things first: The best way to win an argument is to not enter one in the first place.

However, we don't always have that luxury and can sometimes find ourselves needing to defend a point of view.

If this happens, here are 15 logical fallacies to avoid:
Anecdotal (vs. Empirical Evidence)

Using a personal experience or an isolated example to try and prove a point instead of empirical or more compelling evidence.

Humans tend to believe and relate to stories, but don't fall into this trap.

What's true for you isn't always true.

9 simple things you can do to extend your lifespan:
Take Sleep Seriously

Human beings are the only species that deliberately deprive themselves of sleep.

But emerging from research in the last 10 years is an unmistakable message:

Sleep is the single most effective thing we can do to reset our brain and body health each day.
Eat Plant-Based Foods

In the 5 regions of the world (Blue Zones) where people live the longest, plant-based foods make up ~95% of the diet.

”Meat is like radiation: We don’t know the safe level.”
—Walter Willett, Harvard School of Public Health

Most people suck at decision-making.

Let's change that.

Here are 15 of the best decision-making mental models I've found:
The Inside-Outside View

We have a natural tendency to favour the inside view—our own independent solution to a problem that incorporates all of our hidden biases.

To make better decisions, we should favour the outside view—one that incorporates the best available data. Image
Ladder of Inference

Describes the thinking process we go through—often subconsciously—to get from a fact to a decision or action.

To make better decisions, we should move slowly and deliberately from the bottom of the ladder to the top of the ladder.
